Chapter 32: Realization

The soft morning light pulls me awake and despite the fact that I feel beaten, I force myself fully awake before it's not too late. My head turns slowly and I freze for a split second. With an arm over his face to shield himself from the morning light , still deeply asleep, somehow relaxed for the first time I have met him, Thomas looks strangely not like himself. His brows are not narrowed. He is not cold or distant. He is simply asleep and peaceful. Like this, I can stare. I can't help myself to pull my eyes away. I might never get to experience this again.
