I stared at her in disbelief. Was she truly awake? She just smiled and said, ‘Hey, Angel!’ to me. Did she remember me? She remembers calling me her angel.
I know I must have looked like an absolute fool, just standing there frozen with my mouth gaped open. My mouth was dry from hanging open for so long without movement.
‘Say something, you fool!’ my beast mumbled, but he was no more receptive than I was. We were both stunned and silent. The only difference was that he wasn’t in her line of sight. It was easy for him to hide and toss me forward to handle the situation.
