“Richard, just checking in on our new resident.” Anne-Marie’s voice oozed with fake compassion. It was shocking how different she was when her mate wasn't around from how she behaved with him nearby. She was indeed a different person than most realized. She hid it well.
There was a sigh. “You know the rules, my love. I can’t have Colton triggered by finding you alone with her. You need to remember she is still healing.”
“Richard, I was just waiting here for the doctor and Colton. I figured Colton wouldn’t want me near him while signing off the paperwork. No harm, see. She’s completely fine.”
