The Disappointment

CHAPTER THREE Elena's POV I hate the fact that my father, Alpha Barker, loves Amelia, a low-life he picked from the streets more than we his children. He even has the guts to tell us that we should always show her some respect. Thank goodness for Mom, if not, I would have either killed her or sent her to exile to have us share our father with her. I promise to make her life a living hell every day as long as Dad is not always around. "She seems less busy. What do you think we can do to frustrate her?" I asked my twin brother, who is also my partner in crime. If not for his words of encouragement every day, I know what I would have done to Amelia. He supports everything I choose to do for Amelia. "How about we call her in, plant a bucket of paint on the door so when she opens the door she spills the paint on the floor in the process. You and I know that paintings are the hardest to clean on a tiled floor once it's more than five minutes," Ellen said. "Hmm! That's a good idea. Just wondering what I would have done if I didn't have you as a twin." I said, smiling. I secretly went into the storage room, took a bucket of paint, and placed it where it would before calling out to Amelia. "Here, you called for.." Amelia pushed open the door and immediately the paint fell on her. Thankfully, she was putting on one of her favorite white dresses. I looked at Ellen before bursting into a peal of heavy laughter. "Amelia, check out what you just did to my room. Paint inside my beautiful room, mom must hear about this." I said out of the room angrily. "I wasn't the one that poured the paint, Luna," Amelia said. Immediately, she saw me coming closer with my mom. "No Mom, that's a lie. She thought I wasn't inside, she even poured it on herself intentionally when she noticed I was inside my room. All my whole room is stained with paint." I said, faking a cry. "Amelia, I want this floor cleaned in thirty minutes." My mom said, walking back to her room. We all know that thirty minutes won't be enough for her, but I really enjoyed the show. "Ellen, let's leave her to clean the stained floor. Make sure nothing goes missing in my room," I said before walking away with Ellen to his own room, so he could show me the new things he bought for the mating ceremony. I already spoke to my mom earlier, and she had promised me that the Alpha of the crescent pack would be my mate even though I'm just sixteen, but who really cares about age? A day before the mating ceremony, I noticed Amelia sneaking out in the early hours. While she was sneaking back in, I noticed she was holding something in her hand. I sneaked behind her, looked through the hole in her door, and saw a beautiful gown being placed on her bed. Instantly, I rushed to my mom. "What is it, Elena?" My mom asked, staring blankly at me. "Mom, you promised me that Amelia was never going to attend the mating ceremony tomorrow, but I just saw her sneak in with a beautiful dress," I said angrily. "Is that why you are upset?" My mom asked. "Yes," I replied, still not looking at her. "I told you that I have everything handled, she's not going to attend the mating ceremony." My mom said, After much persuasion, I calmed my nerves down and went off to my room. The mating ceremony day came, and I had already overheard my mom relegating some tasks to Amelia. It would take a whole day to clean the pack house. If Dad asks about her, I would simply tell him she decided not to come of her own will. I thought as I stared at the mirror happily. While cleaning my face, I noticed her peeping through my door. I was about to confront her when I overheard Ellen's voice. I trust him to do a perfect job. "That witch was at your door staring at you, all thanks to Mom's voice. You should have seen how she took to her heels immediately after she heard her voice." Ellen said, bursting into laughter. "I wanted to come, but I refrained myself, so I won't ruin my beautiful make-up," I said. "I can't wait to come over to the crescent pack every weekend and spend the night with you," Ellen said, hugging me from the back. Though we were always at each other's throats, I was surely going to miss him. We were still enjoying our moments together when a message suddenly popped up on my iPad. "Who is that?" Ellen asked. "It's the head of the omegas," I responded. "What does the message say?" Ellen asked, helping me to pack my hair in a ponytail. "Amelia is done with her chores," I said, feeling shocked. "How did she do that in under one hour?" Ellen asked, looking at me confusedly. I replied to the head of the Omegas and asked her to delay Amelia while we carried out the plan B my mom gave us. I took out the scissors from my wardrobe while Ellen followed me with a very sharp blade. We got to Amelia's room and searched everywhere till we saw where she hung the dress. I looked at it with disgust and, without wasting much time, we proceeded to cut everything into pieces and throw them in different directions. When we were done, we sneaked back to my room where I continued preparing for the mating ceremony. "Did you notice her passing by now?" Ellen asked. I nodded and we both laughed. I got prepared and walked outside towards where the others were seated waiting to be chosen by the Alphas. I winked at my mom before proceeding to sit down. Since my mom had already told me that I would be chosen by Alpha Kessler of the crescent pack, I was less worried while the other Alphas chose their mates. Just when I thought I was the only one left, a lady dressed in blue attire came in and sat a few chairs away from mine. Jealousy aside, she wore a beautiful gown that looked elegant and more captivating in her body. I looked at her, wondering who she was. Soon, it was Alpha Kessler's turn. I adjusted my dress and hair, so I would be more noticeable but unexpectedly, I saw him pointing fingers at the lady seated next to me. "What?" I screamed. I looked at my mom who told me to calm down. Maybe he was just testing my patience, but when I heard him again, I knew I was all done. But who is this lady and where did she appear from? I asked myself eagerly, ready to see the face of the lady. A few minutes later, an elder stood up and asked her to unveil herself. I was shocked when the lady turned out to be Amelia. "Amelia!!!" I screamed at the top of my voice, not minding the crowd. "Mom, what am I going to do?" I asked as tears flowed freely down my cheeks. "We should try plan B since this didn't work out." My mom said, staring angrily at Amelia. "What's plan B Mom?" I asked.
