Chapter Two - Notes

The high, arched gates of the Kingdom Rose generously opened after hearing that their newly wedded princess had come back unannounced. Queen Wilma Berta Fedora and King Ernest Duncan Fedora, Princess Venus’ mother and father, immediately greeted her at the main entrance, since they went home early after the wedding and reception ended. After she got down from the carriage, they approached her and touched her forehead, “You’re not unwell,” Queen Wilma sighed. “We were worried after receiving a message from the king and queen of Peony, they were displeased with your behavior,” She informed her daughter. “But my husband gave me his permission, so I’m certain it’s alright,” Venus defended herself, so she gasped after receiving a tight hug from her. “Sweetheart, are you worried about making love with your new husband?” She curiously asked, which made her blush beet red. “Mother, that is not it, I don’t feel well,” She politely replied before breaking their hugs against each other. “Are you overwhelmed by your new obligations? You’re prepared for this, right? You were so excited,” Her mother claimed, which made her bitterly smile. She was excited back then. Venus was more than prepared to build the kingdom of Peony much better with Prince Louis by her side before moving into their own. But of course, that didn’t happen in the past. They celebrated for who knows how long after the wedding. She was extremely exhausted for days that she slept for half a day. Hanna was the one waking her up when she had appointments with other nobles. Prince Louis, on the other hand, back then, had numerous business meetings to attend that she didn’t manage to attend. She just patiently waited for him to get home to have…a hot night. She shrugged her head, she was so foolish back then. She wanted to scold herself for the whole evening because of that. Princess Venus suddenly thought about telling her mother what happened to her in the past, but she could feel something in her gut that she shouldn’t. “I-I am still excited, plus, I still have things to get here before I can comfortably live there,” Venus reassured her. “Alright sweetheart, if that is what you feel right now, then I’ll believe it,” Her mother kissed her forehead as they both approached the king. “Are you sure that you’re alright, sweetheart?” King Ernest worriedly asked, so she curtsied before nodding. “I am alright, I just need to get a few things and probably rest here for tonight father,” She informed him, so he just sighed before nodding. “Will he get you here tomorrow afternoon?” He raised his tone. Venus thought that her father wanted to make sure that he was concerned about her. She almost cried while smiling, her parents were just so sweet to her. She regretted leaving them early just to get married. But it’s also her responsibility as a princess to strengthen their legacy with the other kingdom they chose to exchange ties with. Being partnered with Peony was one of her greatest regrets from the past. She wanted to make sure that it won’t ever happen again. Well, it had already happened, but she could still change things after she confirmed if she had really been back from the past. After a few exchanges of words, she surrendered to her chambers together with Hanna as she prepared her bath for her. While waiting for her bath to get ready, Venus went to the library for her to gather her books and notes about the land of Flora. She checked the date today and it was really the 18th of May 1982, her wedding day. Venus still couldn’t believe it. She died two months after this day ended. It was July 18th, 1982. She always looks at the dates and times since there are schedules she has to remember for the whole kingdom of Peony. Flora contains numerous influential kingdoms, but only three of them surpassed the impossible around the land. Rose, Peony, and the fallen kingdom of Lilac. Rose is the kingdom where princess Venus lives, Peony is the kingdom she exchanged ties with. Lilac was a kingdom that fell because they lost their queen as their king fell into depression. Before Peony rose as second to the most influential kingdom on land, Lilac was in that position before. She thought deeply about her past and just felt that it really happened. It wasn’t a nightmare or a foreseeing, she died and came back because she deserved to live longer. Venus was well aware that she had not deserved what had happened to her. That is why the heavens have given her the opportunity to return and ensure she receives the justice and retribution she deserves. She thought about writing about all of those things that have happened in the past. Venus was making sure she didn’t miss a thing until she had written about her death. “Back then, I never attended any business meetings with other kingdoms. Apart from that, I must never make love with Prince Louis,” She clenched her fists. “I must also not let his mother abuse me or let anyone hurt my precious lady in waiting,” She whispered while writing something on her notes. “You have to be strong, Venus, you only have yourself in this battle to escape this marriage and that kingdom,” She added before gazing from the windows to see the stars shining so brightly from the night sky. After she finished cleaning up her study table, she went back to her chambers to take a bath and slept soundly despite her thoughts being clouded with anxiousness. *** The next day came by. Princess Venus woke up earlier than usual to take a stroll around their royal garden. It wasn’t long until she met up with Hanna, informing her that her bath was ready before she could proceed on having breakfast with her parents in the dining hall. After she wore her elegant beige gown and allowed her hair to be fixed by Hanna, she looked in the huge mirror and thought she looked so relaxed inside of this kingdom. She had long copper-brown, wavy hair, bright blue eyes, and a fair complexion. Her figure should be maintained as a princess, so she had a worship-worthy body that numerous nobles and princesses wished for a woman to have. “Princess?” Hanna called, so she looked at her before pouting, so she shyly blushed before coughing, “V-Venus, can I ask you a question?” “Yes you may, Hanna,” She delightedly replied, so Hanna just smiled before standing right beside her. “Are you sure that you’re alright? I’ve never seen you so agitated before or even cry like that last night, princess,” Hanna worriedly asked. Venus just sighed since she knew that her lady in waiting would question everything since she'd been with her ever since she was a kid. They were together like sisters, everything that concerns one another matters to them, “The truth is, I can’t tell you yet, Hanna, but I want to let you know that I’m planning to cut ties with the kingdom of Peony soon,” She whispered that only the two of them could hear. Hanna’s eyes widened, “Y-You will? But why? You love Prince Louis, right?” She was surprised, which made her bitterly smile. “I found out something just after the wedding ended,” Venus lied. It’s not time to reveal anything just yet to anyone. However, she had to take that action in order not to worry her lady in waiting, whom she had treated as a sister ever since. “I can’t tell you, but you have to trust me, okay?” Venus reached out to her hands and squeezed them, “I’m also doing this for your own good,” Hanna was confused at what she said and was about to ask her again when she heard the sound of the bells ringing. “The king and queen are awaiting your presence in the dining hall. We must leave at once,” Hanna bowed her head, so Venus dusted off her ball gown before nodding. “Alright,” She replied before walking towards the spacious, elegant-looking hallways to go to the dining hall. Numerous guards were surrounding them as they stood still to make sure all of the royalty's and nobles' safety was secured. “Greetings, Your Majesties,” Venus politely bowed her head and curtsied after she arrived at the dining hall. “I apologize for my late appearance,” She sincerely said before proceeding to sit right beside her mother. “You don’t have to apologize, sweetheart, let’s have our brunch,” The queen smiled before ringing the bell. The two-way door behind them opened as numerous chefs appeared to serve them their appetizers. After they were finished, they proceeded on serving soup with the main dish, which was turkey and mashed potatoes. “So sweetheart, you’re going to be fetched here later by your husband, right?” Queen Wilma asked while dabbing some napkins near her lips. “Yes, Mother, Prince Louis will be here later on,” Venus informed her, so the queen nodded her head before asking her lady-in-waiting to check her schedule. “He might be late since he had a scheduled today to meet up with the different royals around Flora,” The queen stated. “W-What? That’s today already?!” She surprisingly stood up from her chair, making everyone startled. “I-I apologize, I just have to be there, for both for the kingdom’s sake, I don’t want to be seen as just a noble or princess,” She politely regained her composure before coughing from embarrassment. “Alright sweetheart,” Queen Wilma smiled. She was glad that her daughter was interested in engaging in such matters. “Guards, ready my daughter’s carriage, Hanna, please prepare her the most fabulous gown you can find after you finish your meal,” The queen raised her voice to order their people around and her husband was just proudly watching her while drinking his requested brewed coffee. “As you wish, Your Majesty,” Hanna politely bowed her head before leaving the halls to eat in her chambers and prepare Venus’ ball gown. “Thank you, mother,” Venus genuinely smiled before finishing up the rest of her meal to catch up with Hanna. She was relieved that she was not too late to make changes to what was about to happen, sooner or later. After she was done with her meal, she gave her mother and father a kiss on their cheeks before she ran off to her chambers. She arrived there and gasped after seeing Hanna bowing at her with a beautiful pastel plain blue dress that was off-shoulders. “Oh that is so lovely Hanna,” Venus muttered in awe, so she just smiled before nodding at her princess. “Of course, nothing but the best for the princess of Rose,” Hanna winked before clapping her hands, “Now come on, let’s get you prettied up again,” After she said those words, Venus just watched her do everything to beautify her for the meeting with numerous kingdoms. She wanted to make sure she looked the best, so people would look at her in amusement and would be in favor of her. Back then, once Prince Louis and she got offspring, he promised her a new kingdom that they would rule together. But that didn’t happen in the past, so now she has to earn respect from numerous kingdoms for them to agree with her if someday she ends up cutting ties with the kingdom Peony. She also has to figure out a way to reveal the evil deeds of her best friend, Princess Marie Alicia Pheon from the Daisy kingdom. It’s a kingdom that doesn’t get along well with anyone, so they prefer to keep their businesses a secret from everyone else. “You’re all done now, Princess Venus,” Hanna happily said before accompanying her towards the big mirror inside of her room. She gasped in awe after seeing herself in such a very elegant gown before twirling, “Thank you, Hanna, my confidence is always in top shape because of you,” Hanna shook her head, “You’re the one who’s doing that, Your Highness,” She bowed her head before proceeding towards the main door of her room. “Shall we go to the meeting place, Princess Venus?” Hanna asked, so she nodded her head before taking one good look at herself again. She’s a princess who has a wrecked soul and is willing to do whatever it takes to get the righteous justice and revenge that she deserves. “You’re ready for this, Venus, be strong,” She whispered to herself before she decided to step away from her room to face a new destiny that awaits her.
