Chapter Six
"I'll be there in a bit," Brooke called after Randy and Frank as she retrieved the saddle she’d been using since her arrival. They waved to her and headed out to round up the cattle since another storm was headed their way. Thankfully, the last one only brought light showers. Brooke wasn’t sure how much wind and rain to expect today, but was happy to stay busy and help prepare.
Standing at Scarlet’s left shoulder, she hoisted the saddle up and over, placing it on the pad, then lowered the cinches and stirrups. As she snugged everything in place she heard familiar footsteps enter the barn. Would recognize that unhurried gait anywhere. Her heart picked up speed as he approached and stop near her.
