The Answer of the MikadoA week later, that is to say, on

victim had been a strange mixture of heartlessness and hysterical
remorse.
At the first sound of the fatal shots, she came rushing to the
scene of the tragedy, and cast herself on the floor of the corridor
beside the dead man, seizing his hands, crying his name aloud, and
weeping frantically.
