If someone had asked me
if I have expected to be inside the same private snow carriage again with the Crown Prince, my answer would have been a definite yes because I always thought that the Crown Prince already learned his lesson from the last time that we went together.
But that is not the case as right now we are heading to Plumba, the once so-called old and beautiful coastal town but right now it is just mostly ice and rocky mountains. I almost told him that I did not want to go though as I still think that it would just be another Kajos experience, if not a waste of time. And besides that, I really want to see my brother right now more than anything else, but Prince Kao was making it hard for me.
I don't know if this was because of the accidental kiss that had happened between us that made me just agree with anything that he wanted to do, but I kind of feel bad that I am just going with the flow even if I secretly object with this trip.
"You look gloomy," he said as he glanced at me from looking at his book. He was again reading while seating next to the window while I sit next to him trying not to think too much of what happened between the two of us back at the music hall. You can share everything with me, remember? I will gladly listen to you, Rainha."
"Oh, I am just worried about my brother. I have a feeling that his fiance is controlling him," I admitted. "Imagine, they are still going to proceed to their marriage even with Aunt Milca still missing. Garreth is not heartless like that."
"Maybe there is a reason why they decided to go with their wedding," he said.
"Yeah, maybe, and if there is a good reason behind that, then I want to hear it from him in person."
The Crown Prince chuckled. It was already dark outside this snow carriage's window but I am not still sleepy from all the things that had happened. "You don't like the woman that your brother is going to marry, right?"
I nodded. "I disliked her since we were younger. But I tried my best to be civil with her, you know, but she's so hard to just ignore. If you know what I mean. Blasie is the kind of woman that will do everything to make her life as comfortable as she can, and I have a feeling that she is just using Garreth for her own good."
"That's some serious accusation right there," he told me. The Crown Prince looks like he was more interested now in my story than the book that he was reading which was about Aure's legends of the old days and the mythological creatures that were said to have existed in this kingdom. "Your brother would get disappointed at you if he learns that you think about his fiance that way."
"Well, I don't care about Blasie's feelings but I do care how my brother will react so I tried to be friendly with her with all my might," I said, "but I can't just agree with her in anything." Until now I am still furious about the semi-confrontation that happened between the two of us. My justification of my attitude towards her is that she was being rude about my Aunt's disappearance. Anyone would be mad if they were in my shoes and that's what I am so mad about.
"She seems to be a very opinionated woman though," he added. "I mean, there is no problem with an opinionated woman. In fact, a woman should have opinions on her own, but your brother's fiance sounds like she is the type of person that finds it hard to accept that she made a mistake, or that she miscalculated something."
"Precisely. She is being a spoiled brat and I want to pull all of her out from her scalp because of that," I agreed and the Crown Prince laughing from that. "Why? What is so funny?"
He shook his head. "It's nothing. I just find you adorable when you are furious. Your face turns extra red."
"Oh." My heart was beating wildly again and I could not breathe properly because of this. I really should stop believing what my mind wants to believe and just take the words for what they really are.
"Anyway, don't worry, I will go with you to where your brother is. It's just two towns away from Plumba so it would be easier if you just ride in this snow carriage with me, don't you think?"
I nodded and thanked him. "You don't have to accompany me to where he is, Prince Kao. It could be dangerous."
"Or it could be fun," he said, winking at me and that wink should be considered illegal for goodness sake. "You don't have to worry much about our safety at where are we heading. The Forresters are always guarded by their own security detail. While the place where your brother is the border, which means that there are a lot of Royal Guards there, as your brother is the head of that unit."
"Okay," I just said because I feel so stupid for not thinking that we are actually heading to a group of Royal Guards headed by my brother. So there is a lot of security there and that would be in our favor. I felt lighter after hearing that from him. I guess I was just worrying too much as that incident that happened when we were in Kajos traumatized me.
We were discussing about the possible reason of my brother decided to proceed with their wedding when the Crown Prince paused as his book fell to the floor. It was flipped open in the center when he tried to pick it up but paused when he saw what was in the opened pages. It was an illustration of a man clad in armor and his hands were raised and on his palms were snowflakes.
"Volo," Prince Kao whispered and that confused me.
"Volo? Who is that?"
"He is the deity of winter," the Crown Prince answered.
