Jang's theory is so convincing. Not only because it is so coincidental, but it also makes sense if we have to put into account how Blasie treated me when she came here to the castle to inform me about their wedding.
Yes, it was to inform me. It might have been okay if it was a normal situation because my opinion about their wedding matters less, but this was one of those times where I could have a say on their plans as a couple. Seriously? They are going to proceed to marry each other despite a family member of one of them is still missing? That's something out of the ordinary and a deep hatred for Blasie rose to my surface. That calculating woman is something else.
"If she really did that, then your brother should not marry her," Kaylie said. "He will be in a trap forever."
"Kaylie's right, Rainha!" Jang seconded. "Now that you know what that woman is capable of, you must stop their wedding! That's the only thing you can do for your stupid brother!"
I hesitated. "But what if Garreth really is in with her plan? What if he agrees with her? I don't want to get laughed upon by that mad woman."
"It's up to you," said Jang, "but if I were you I would take the risk. Who knows, if this is all Blasie has been planning all along? And even if your brother indeed knows about this plan, at least you were able to talk to him."
"That's right, Jang," Kaylie agreed. "You still have to talk to your brother, Rainha, even if there is a chance that the two of them actually planned their wedding. You have to at least confirm it by yourself."
I nodded at their advice. "I guess I have no choice but to go to where my brother is. I have to talk to him personally. I should have done it myself. I should have informed him about what happened to Aunt Milca. I should have not trusted that woman."
Kaylie held my hands tightly to comfort me. "It is not your fault that Blasie acted like that. Plus, we are still not sure if what we think about her is right. It could still be the other way around. But you still need to talk to your brother to make sure that he is aware of everything."
I nodded. "I know. I have to go to the border then."
"Leave the explanation to me then," said Jang. "I will inform Madame Morris of what you are going to do. You can leave immediately, Rainha. Tonight is the start of our weekend off. No one will try to stop you. I'm just going to inform Madame Morris in case you are not able to come back on time."
"Thank you," I said to the two of them and they went to give me their hugs. It warmed me a little bit, making me forget all of the cold and all of my other problems which include Kaylie being able to learn of my secret connection to the Crown Prince. "I have to go somewhere then if I will go to my brother at the border."
Jang's eyebrows were raised. "Where are you going?"
"Oh, I---"
"She's going to finish that chore that she was tasked with at the music hall," Kaylie said. Jang and I stared at her in surprise.
"Chore at the music hall? What do you mean? Did you go there to clean the music hall?"
I could feel the blood on my cheeks rising because Jang was starting to get suspicious. "Well---"
"A performer came here yesterday and complained that he lost a pocket watch when he played at the music hall back at that farmer's banquet, remember?" said Kaylie who was trying to save me from Jang's interrogations. "I was the one tasked to search for that pocket watch at the music hall but I had to beg since I am also preparing for my own wedding, right?"
"Oh, is that so?"
Kaylie nodded. "Rainha found out about my dilemma and she went there to finish that chore instead of me. And now she has no choice but to go to Madame Morris to tell her that she will be leaving that chore too."
"Oh, then I can do it---"
"I'll do it," said Kaylie and that stopped Jang from presenting herself. "Let me just do it guys, as it was originally assigned to me."
"But are you not busy? You said it yourself. Aren't you busy preparing for your wedding with Sir Ralphus too?"
"It's okay. Don't worry about me. I will be fine. Plus, I will surely miss working here as a court servant after I leave so let me just do this, alright?"
Kaylie looked genuinely sad so I was thinking that it was possible that she really will miss her work here in the castle and I instantly felt sad about that. Kaylie might not be close to me as Jang is, but to me, she is just as important. If it weren't for her eccentric grandmother in the form of Mitaur then probably she would have been closer to me just like how Jang is. And that's what's making me upset by her upcoming wedding. Of course, I am happy that she found her happiness with the man that she loves but I also feel sad that after getting married I would probably not going to see her as much as we can. Being a married person is no longer about you only so even if we want to hang out just like in the old times, I think it would take a back seat as Kaylie's priority will be her husband from that moment on.
"Alright, alright, be sure to come back here before the two of you leave, okay? I have to clean the bathhouse before I could get out too so it will take time."
Kaylie and I nodded and we left our quarters. I almost teared up when I went out of our room because I could not believe that I just lied again straight on her face and right now I also let Kaylie lie to her as well.
It sucks, but Kaylie held my hands again and squeezed them to at least brighten me up. "You better treat Jang once she finds out about what is happening with you. I almost bit my tongue back there. That's the longest amount of time that I lied to someone. I only ever did it to my grandmother back then."
I laughed a little at that and wiped the impending tears in my eyes with my right hand, causing me not to see that someone was standing on my way and I bumped into him and the two of us rolled to the marble floor. I shrieked while I can hear Kaylie squeal in surprise. But what made me faint was not the pain of falling to the floor or bumping someone. It was realizing that I just accidentally kissed the Crown Prince on his lips when we fell.
