Michelle sensed him before she saw him. Shane pushed his way through the building crowd, expecting the group to disperse immediately, just with a look.
As they did, she couldn’t help the building emotion behind what so obviously was an act of terror.
“I don’t know if I should do this, Jenn,” she said quietly. “I’d like to go home.”
Jenn nodded and thanked her for trying. She could feel the glare across the sand to Shane to say something but Shane ignored Jenn. It was one more reason to go.
“Can I just get my board? I left it here last night.”
“Yeah,” Jenn replied. “Let me show you where it was put.”
“Thanks…”
