She can’t remember the last time she ever slept more than three hours at a time but the last thing she can remember as she wakes to the predawn is reminiscing with him about her most cherished moments. Shane, like years ago, gave her clothes to snuggle up with him in. Back then she was sure he was treating her like some stray. He gave her an unreal amount of pillows and blankets. He was good to her then. He pulled out old clothes he was looking to donate and let her sleep in his basement.
He was always home from there on in, but the weight of being left still weighed on her mind. It happened anyway. Despite her tries to leave, Shane was always there in some way or another, offering his heart to her. He’d feed her. He’d walk with her anywhere she wanted to go,
