Chapter 7
The ceremony had been gorgeous and Jane was beautiful. Maddy almost made it through the entire wedding without crying, but when Jane and Bobby exchanged vows, tears pricked the back of her eyes. She rapidly blinked them away, but Tonio took her hand and squeezed her fingers gently. The gesture shouldn’t have surprised her, but it did.
The reception was also gorgeous. No expense had been spared for Jane’s fairy tale wedding, and Maddy had to admit she was happy she hadn’t found a reason to avoid attending. It might have been difficult to spend time with the people who reminded her most of her husband—many of whom never liked her to begin with—but the booze was free, the food was plentiful, and almost everybody had done a double take when they saw her on Tonio’s arm.
