ACE The beeping of my alarm slowly brought me to consciousness. I opened my exhausted eyes and looked at Ash lying beside me. Star has been in heat for nearly three days now, and we quickly came to the conclusion that the only way we were getting through this was to take shifts. Two hours with Star and four hours of rest. Time has literally no meaning anymore. Anne-Marie has studied the powdery substance on Star's clothes, and it appears to be magically infused with a chemical heat. It seems to be designed to increase the heat, not reduce it. As a result, every time Star experiences a wave of heat, it will become more powerful and last longer.
