Faint with Blood

1622 Words
Ferdinand's POV "Mister Ferdinand..." I raised my left hand as a cue that I knew what had happened. I raised my feet on the floor as I went to the clinic of this academy called the "Timawa Catalonan Academy." "Principal, I was careless. I did not mean to cut my shoulder. My sword is just too heavy to lift." Andrew explained nervously. "You know you might have died because of carelessness, don't you?" I replied calmly. He nodded in response while biting his thumbnail nervously. I saw everything. It wasn't Andrew's fault. It's just Hanan is too strong for him, even with just a dagger. I heaved a sigh. "Next time, don't let your guard down. It might have killed you in a real battle." "Yes, sir." He gasped while still looking at the floor. "How is she?" I asked as I saw the nurse. She smiled, "She's fine and awake, sir." The boy, Andrew, was already treated. Hence, I went directly to her bed. She is now sitting on her bed. Silent and in deep thought. She did not even notice my arrival until I sat beside her. "Father!" She exclaimed in surprise. I grinned in response and hugged her tight. She is now on her sixteenth but still has no progress with her blood issue. She always faints whenever she sees blood. "Hey, hey, hey! Old man, I am already becoming a lady, ya'know. Stop treating me like a child." She said with a broad grin as she parted from my hug. "Really? You still look like a baby to me, princess." I said in my teasing tone. I smirked to tease her more, making her realize what she'd done to call me an old man. I am still 37, though. "That smirk, huh? Is that the price for calling you an old man? Geeze, are you really my father?" She snorted. Well, I guess she knew the pattern. I grinned widely and replied, "Nope, not until you become my daughter." She rolled her eyes as she admitted defeat. We are always like this. I am so close to her as she is close to mine. She is precious to me. She heaved a sigh with a hint of sadness and disappointment in her eyes. "So, I fainted—AGAIN." She groaned in disappointment. "Really? I thought you were just exhausted, and you suddenly fell asleep." I said as I tried to throw jokes at that 'faint' thing to give her some 'positive vibe.' "Seriously, old man? Throwing a party in the middle of the war?" She replied in disbelief. I smiled. "Well, at least you did not die. That's all my concern. As long as you're with us, still breathing in the same air, then I'm good." I paused for a while and then pointed to my wristwatch. "Hey lady, you're going to be late for your next class. No skipping and better give Andrew a massage. He's nervous because the princess passed out." I started to head back to my office as I remembered, "Oh! I almost forgot. Go easy on him. Your knight is still injured." I saw her eyes widen, and before she could throw the pillow she was holding, I retreated swiftly and went directly to my office. I used my teleport magic to make my pace faster. This academy is huge, and my office is in the tower. Enough for me to see everything that is happening downstairs. We were no witches. We just do magic as part of the hunter's ability. We are clearly human. We just study magic and learn how to fight ghouls, evil spirits, evil witches, werewolves, the siren that abducts men, and many more. I sat on my chair facing the window. I sipped on my wine as I sensed an unwelcome guest. "Alas! I did not expect such a visit." I calmly snorted as I maintained my posture while looking through the window. "Visit?" He chuckled. "A stay, perhaps." I may not be looking at him, but I could tell he was serving his wine and tossing it in my direction. "To my old friend." He said. I turned around to face him. "What do you need from here?" I calmly asked while keeping my composure. He played with his glass of wine and said, "You know why I'm here Markus." I could feel my muscles tense as I gritted my teeth in silent anger. Holding my hands, preventing myself from laying my fist on his face. One word, or else! "I have seen her faint—..." That's it! I did not let him finish his line and swiftly went to him using my teleportation as I choked his neck against the wall to hold him higher. He then rapidly taps my hands to admit defeat. "Dare to touch her nor make a mess in this place, and I will make sure you'll regret it later. My place, my rule!" I exclaimed, trying to keep my voice low and in control. Gasps to prevent me from shouting out of anger, then released him. I glared at him as he rubbed his neck to ease the pain. He chuckled when he realized what I was doing. A deadly glare, enough to warn him of my superiority in this place. "Well, I am not here to condemn you nor to kill her. Honestly, I came here for the report that was currently happening around you." I narrowed my eyes in response. I drank the last drop of my wine. "Man, that choke hurts!" He murmured. "You've never changed. Still that impulsive, overprotective, and hot-tempered hunter." He smirked. "Get to the point already." He turned his head for a while and sat down on the guests' couch as he crossed his legs gracefully. "Something strange is happening in the city next to this place. There is this crime that was done by a maniac. As I did a thorough investigation, I thought ghouls or werewolves were behind it. Blood and body parts are scattered everywhere, but when I saw bite marks on their neck, I eventually recognized it was a vampire." "A vampire?" I grunt in confusion. "Yes, A vampire. Not two or three, but one." "It's impossible— how can a vampire..." "That's the point, Markus. All teeth patterns are the same. You know that normal vampires can't kill nor assassinate the whole crowd of people in the bar maniacally. They can only manage to snatch a heart, bite and suck the blood." My muscles once again tensed up and glared more deadly. I know where this talk is going. "Relax." He blurts. "We all know, especially us hunters, that only purebloods can make such a huge mess." "And what do you want to say, that Hanan has gone mad and become that monster?" I felt the heat of my blood rising with anger as I held my breath for seconds and gently closed my eyes to heave a deep sigh. He nodded. "I came here to confirm if it was her, but I saw no sign of becoming a maniac. Though she is good at fighting skills, the fact that she fainted after seeing the blood is enough for my confirmation." I gazed at him with narrowed eyes, " And why is that? She is a human." "Well, I want to see it in person. To see is to believe. I could see that her eyes were normal, or should I say, human-like eyes, despite the blood that runs through her veins." "Third, just to remind you, one must be human, and one must be a vampire. That is what the prophecy foretold!" I said. "Yes, Markus. I am well aware of that. BUT... b-u-t— the fact that her twin is nowhere to be found, we can't be so sure that she is a human. We can not tolerate that. The fact that she is an heir of the royalty of vampires that exerts a massive amount of power, is enough to eliminate you and all the people here in this academy in a snap." He sighed. He stood up and walked towards the window. "However, for the very least, she's in your care, or should I say, 'our care.' I am sure you or we won't let that happen to her." He faced me and pointed his finger at me. " and oh, she still has that faint thing. That makes it alarming. Who knows, she faints because of hunger for blood." The fact that he is right, I can't talk back to him. I somehow managed to blink. I am quiet for a minute to regain my mentality to respond in words. "I know that, Third. But I would like to remind you that purebloods do not exert hazel eyes. They have the turquoise, grayish-blue colors of their eyes when they're in vampire mode and silvery blue when they don't show their 'real' form. Also, a hint of red or black lines on their iris, though normal vampires have amber eyes and dark red for maniacs who can not control their thirst." I know everything about their eyes, though I am not that certain if it is legitimate in some instances. Some hunters that write a book about their eyes are not that accurate for some reason. However, I still researched to prove that Hanan is a human child. He made a face and laughed in disbelief, "So you did research. If that's what you think, then I respect that. Adios." He then gently circled his hand in motion and put it on his right chest like a butler as he gently bowed and vanished. I heaved a deep breath and sighed in relief.
