CHAPTER TWENTY ONE Media swarmed the police precinct as she stepped slowly out of the car, and Ilse's jaw dropped. Lights flashed; cameras jammed towards her. A swarm of cameramen and would-be journalists rounded on her, glass reflecting the bright lights. Sawyer stepped next to her, murmuring beneath his breath. “Don't say anything. Keep quiet, let's move.” Ilse's heart hammered as she ducked her head, allowing Sawyer to lead the way back into the precinct. The flashing lights, the loud voices of the news crews caused Ilse to hunch in on herself, to tug at the sleeves to her sweater.
