7. FeastingTwo hours later, Cait sat at a grand banqueting table in a hall of the palace, wondering what was going on. The sumptuous room about her blazed with light. Gold-framed mirrors decorated the walls, breaking up the relentless polished white, their reflections of each other making the space confusing to the eye. Enormous chandeliers filled the air above her head, each holding thousands of tallow candles. Their bobbing flames provided a quiet chorus of hisses. Her head throbbed from where she'd struck it.
