Samantha
Everything around me seemed to turn into some kind of s**t show. Landon promised me that he wouldn’t be territorial again, but the moment he saw Levi he did just that. It was like watching him become a whole other person that I knew nothing about. That wasn’t the same guy I began to have feelings for. No, he was someone entirely different. Halfway through the night, I had been running. It had begun to rain outside, yet I didn’t seem to mind. It felt like every time something went wrong in my life, the rain would come, reminding me that we were similar in many ways. The rain could be cool and inviting, but when it really started coming down like it was right now, it made you want to run and hide to find warmth. How would I be able to face either one of them ever again? I couldn’t trust either of them. Both of them must have enjoyed lying to me because it kept happening. I sighed in defeat, feeling my legs begin to go limp underneath me.
Life was nothing like I imagined it would be for me. Everything used to be so perfectly thought out, down to every minute of my life. How did I get so turned around? The more important question was, why did I let myself get so turned around? This person that I had become was not who I was at all. I hated this version of myself.
My phone started ringing in my pocket as it had for the hundredth time. I pressed ignored after seeing Landon’s name pop up on the screen. He had no right to call me after the stunt he just pulled. Moving to California was supposed to my break away from everything else. But now it was feeling more and more like another trap. This time it wasn’t set by Levi but by one very calculated Landon instead.
Right now, I only wanted to drown out all the white noise and focus on nothingness. So, when I spotted a bar to my right, I walked in ready to drink everything away. Hopefully, the guy behind the bar decided to not card people tonight, or my plan to get s**t faced drunk was going to be out of the question. This wasn’t me, I hated drinking. I couldn’t deny that feeling numb sounded better than feeling all the emotions that I was feeling now. I sat down at the bar, putting my small purse on the counter, getting ready to pull out my wallet.
“No need. It’s lady’s night. Drinks are free until midnight,” the guy behind the bar said to me. “That doesn’t mean that you still can’t tip, though.” He pointed to the jar placed beside the beer tap.
I nodded in agreement. “No problem. Let’s see how this night goes first before I determine how much of a tip you deserve.”
“Confident, I like it.”
The name on his tag read Jake. I couldn’t help but smile at the simplicity of his name. It fit him well too. He had a calmness within his facial features that made me forget all the bad s**t going on in my life. I sat in the bar, chatting with Jake for the most part. He managed to talk me into dancing with the other women in the bar. I genuinely had a nice time, but now I was stumbling over everything because I didn’t know how to handle my liquor well. I never thought about drinking before I met Levi. How strange?
“Do you have someone I can maybe call?” Jake asked me nicely.
“Nope, I have no one.” I pulled at his shirt and scrunched up my nose. What the hell was I doing?
Jake laughed at my expense. “That can’t be true. A beautiful girl like you must have a special someone.”
The funny thing was that he wasn’t trying to flirt with me when he said it like most men usually did. He was different, but I was too drunk to put my finger on it.
Jake pulled out my phone from my bag and started scrolling through the numbers. “These two must be the important ones because you added them and only them to your favorites. Landon and Levi. Hot names. And before you say anything, darling, yes, I am gay. Don’t worry about me trying to take you home, you’re not my type.” He laughed so hard that I soon joined him. “How will I choose between which one to call? Oh, I know! Pick a number between one or two.”
I wasn’t paying much attention to the first half of what he was talking about. “One or two?” My stomach was hurting from so much laughter. “That is my options?”
“Yes…now pick.” Jake too, was barely able to keep himself from laughing so hard. This was fun, the most fun I think I have had since leaving for college.
“One,” I said, not knowing why I was picking a number. Someone started up the music again, so I turned away from Jake to start dancing again.
It was about twenty-five minutes later before I watched as Levi strode into the bar. Walking behind him was none other than the girl from earlier. What the hell were they doing here?
“Down, girl.” Jake sat me down on the chair. “I’m sure the girl doesn’t deserve all the venom your spitting right now.”
I decided to keep my mouth closed as I saw Levi approaching us. He looked amazing right now. His jeans were hugging his hips tightly like they always did. The white t-shirt he was wearing was practically see-through, which made him look even sexier because of the tattoos that were appearing through the thin fabric.
“You couldn’t have called someone else? Landon perhaps?”
Jake eyed him up and down like a piece of candy. “I told her to pick a number, she picked one. Guess it is your lucky night.”
Levi couldn’t even look me in the eyes. I stood up from my chair, grabbed my purse, and begun to walk toward the door. I didn’t need his help. Then, I remembered Jake. s**t! Jake was behind the bar with a smile on his handsome face.
“Sorry. Can you give me your number? I had such a good time tonight, we should do it again.”
“Honey, it is already programmed in your phone. I thought you were coming back here because you forgot my tip.”
Right, the tip. I smacked myself in the forehead before dumping all the money I had out on the counter. It was well over $400 that I was prepared to give to him in my drunken state. Jake only took about $40 then placed the rest back in my purse for me. I blew him a kiss and ventured off back outside. Levi was standing by his car, watching me intently as I walked on past him.
“Do not be f*****g difficult. Get in the damn car so I can take you home.”
“I didn’t call you here, so feel free to leave anytime! Go back to f*****g the girl from earlier for all I care.”
He kicked the side of his car with his boot. “You have no f*****g right whatsoever to be pissed at me! This whole time you have been playing mind games with me while f*****g Landon!”
I closed my eyes because I knew if I didn’t calm down, I would most likely lay my hands on him in my rage. “Landon has been there for me. And for your information, all we did was kiss. Unlike you with that slut from earlier!”
Levi’s whole demeanor seemed to change. He was careful with his words while eager to be next to me. All the while, the rain was still coming down hard, but it felt nice against my exposed skin. “After sharing a bed with him, you mean to tell me you didn’t do anything other than share a kiss?”
He had no right to ask me anything about my personal life that didn’t involve him. I wanted to be mad at him, but all I seemed to be was willing to answer his questions truthfully. “All we did was kiss the night that you called in Paris. Things were getting heated between us…”
“Stop!” He grabbed my arms and shook me. “I can’t f*****g hear about how he has touched you!”
“I was going to say…but I stopped him because I couldn’t go any further than kissing. He got mad at me and broke my phone, which he ended up replacing. That night, I didn’t sleep in the bed with him. I slept on the bathroom floor of our hotel room. The next morning, we hashed things out, and I agreed to give us a shot if he were to stop being territorial, but even he lies. He lies as you lie.”
He paced back in forth in front of me. “Did he hurt you? Because if he did, he is dead.”
“Why act as you care so much?!”
“I didn’t f**k that girl either. I used her to make you jealous. After I have had you, I couldn’t possibly go through with having someone that isn’t you!” He calmed himself while running his hand through his soaked hair. “But you have made it clear that you do not want me. That’s okay. I have accepted that I can never make you happy, but please choose someone else besides f*****g Landon to be with!”
The alcohol was burning inside of me at this point. The world around me began spinning as his words ran through me. My legs began to wobble, and I knew my legs were going to give on me at any minute. Just as I was about to hit the ground, Levi caught me and pulled me into his arms. I touched his lips with my cold, wet fingers. It wasn’t something I could stop myself from doing if I wanted to. My body deceived me knowing just what it wanted. Levi was the only thing that could cure me, and I desperately needed him to cure me. He looked down at me and pulled my head up so our lips could meet. All the feelings I have had for him came creeping back in, hitting me like a bomb that went off inside my heart.
His lips parted as my tongue danced around in his mouth. He sat me down and pressed me against the car as his hands traveled over every part of my body before he stopped himself. “We can’t do this, Samantha. You will hate me tomorrow when everything becomes clear to you again.”
“I don’t care. The only thing that matters right now is having you in the way I need you. Please, do this for me.”
He opened his car door, and we both got in the back seat. We began quickly undressing each other, throwing our wet clothes into the floorboard of the car.
“Tell me what you want from me, dirty girl.” He licked his lips as they parted when he drew in a breath.
My body rose into a sitting position. I moved closer to his ear and used my lips and tongue to play with his sensitive area. “f**k me.”
