Michael.
"Cinderella?" I shook her again, but she didn't move or open her eyes.
Her head started to roll to a side and I supported her so that her head rested just above my heart.
I should have considered it very, very carefully before taking someone like her.
I picked her up from the floor and hurried outside to the sickroom.
Ella.
Is this a dream?
I wondered as Michael gathered me in his hands and hurried through the busy hallway.
No...It cannot be, I can hear his steady heartbeat, I can feel his strong muscular arms wrapped around me carefully.
I closed my eyes tightly and sink more to him if it was even possible- and laid there feeling content.
I have to tell you that Michael really is better than a painkiller as I couldn't even feel any pain anymore.
I opened my eyes a Milli-fraction and peered at his slightly worried look as he was explaining to the nurse what has happened.
"Here bring her here," the Nurse told him from the bedside.
"Cinderella! Are you awake!?" Michael caught me peering at him and placed me on the bed, then picked up my bag and started to go through it in a hurry.
"Where's your inhaler? Are you okay?" He asked me as I stared at him.
"Inhaler is in another bag, I just... changed the bag this morning..." I dragged off slowly as he gave me an angry look.
"Who in their right mind will forget to take their inhaler?" He looked incredulous.
"I think she's not having any attacks now," the Nurse said while examining me.
"Is there anything wrong with her?"
"Nothing to worry, she just put pressure on the injured foot, that's all, we will have to see an Ortho just to be sure," she looked at him.
Michael sighed and straightened, his face turned back to the cool expression.
"Then I will leave her to you-"
"Uh... you are not staying?" I looked at him.
He gave me a look.
"Cinderella-"
"Call me, Ella," I pouted. He sighed.
"Ella, unless you haven't noticed, I am quite busy," he told me patiently. "If you don't want to get kicked out of the project group, don't cause any more trouble and recover first," he took his phone and walked out of the room.
"Whoa! He's quite rude," the nurse turned to me and said sympathetically.
"No, he is not!" I gave her a look. "He just told me to recover fast," I said.
She looked taken aback for a moment and then, she nodded slowly.
..........
"I don't understand how you manage to land yourself in trouble all the time, Ella!" Nisha scolded me when she visited me. "If there was some kind of award to getting in trouble, you would have won it," she added.
"Shh...Actually, I am not hurt that much," I confessed, then continued as I couldn't keep it inside anymore.
"Michael thought I am hurt and he carried me all the way here!" I looked at a shocked Nisha and nodded. "Can you believe that? Michael, the stern, inflexible, cold Michael wrapped his amazing hands around me and lifted me all the way here!" I repeated.
"You are kidding, right?" Nisha still looked at me in disbelief.
"No! He did bring me here, and he was worried that I will have an asthma attack, he was searching for my inhaler, it was quite romantic," I giggled happily.
"You forgot to take it again!?" Nisha looked angry.
"That's not the point here, Nisha; He brought me all the way here!"
"Mm...Maybe you are right, there's no way Michael will bring you here himself in front of the whole class if he's not interested," she nodded thoughtfully.
"What do you mean?" I looked at blankly. "In front of the whole class?"
"You said you fell down in the classroom," Nisha said.
I nodded. "It was after the class, nobody was there and Michael and I were alone," I smiled.
"Let me get this correct," She looked at me. "So you fell down and hurt yourself when nobody was around and Michael just helped you?" She asked me.
"He carried me-"
"Yea, you already explained it a lot of time," Nisha said. "Ella, anyone would help a person in need in this kind of situations!"
"But-"
"Look, get hold of yourself; I am more worried about you getting hurt, okay?" She told me and I waved her warning away.
"He will not hurt me, Nisha," I said and she sighed.
....................
I was in a great mood as I walked out of the sick-room after an hour.
But my happiness was short-lived when I reached near the main block.
The project team was moving towards the conference room.
What's going on? It's time for everyone to leave, why are they gathered here?
"Hey Shreya, why is everyone assembled here? Do we have-"
"You really are something, Ella, We never force you to take all those reference books and journals, you volunteered to do it," She told me.
I nodded my head. "It's okay with me-"
"Then why did you have to run to Senior Michael and complain us?" Meera, Angela's best friend asked me.
"What!?" I am flabbergasted now.
"Don't act so shocked, Cinderella, I knew that you will do it," Angela walked to me. "You must've acted pitiful and complained to him, that's why he sent us that message,"
"What message?"
She lifted up her phone.
"He shuffled the topic of the work that we submitted today. All of us have to repeat the work and resubmit the result by tomorrow morning as we were not "responsible enough" She showed me Michael's message.
"What's that got anything to do with me!?"
"We are asked to go back to the conference room and put the books, papers and everything back in order," she said.
"I didn't do anything!" I exclaimed. "He just got angry while he saw me bringing all those books!"
"Yeah sure," Angela scoffed.
"But-"
I stopped as she moved past me and completely ignored me. And soon, everyone followed her, leaving me alone.
I was just trying to get along with everyone! I didn't know that it will end up like this! Besides, it was Michael who told me to try and get into one of the teams!
I felt a pang as I realised another thing. They already have a w******p project group while I am the only one who is not a member!
It is not easy for me to get friends; it has been always like that. Everyone just started to be okay with me, but now I have to start all over again.
No... I should see Michael and tell him that I don't have any problem with helping them.
I walked in search of him. It was difficult for me with my injured feet.
I spotted senior Sam talking with his friends and I reached him.
"Hey Ella," He greeted me as he saw me. I nodded in acknowledgement.
"Have you seen Senior Michael?" I asked him and the whole gang started to make sounds.
What the heck! Why are they overreacting?
Sam walked to me.
"Have you seen it?"
"What?" I asked him bewildered and he showed me his phone.
I gaped as I saw the picture of Michael carrying me.
"He was just helping me," I exclaimed. "Who posted it?"
"Apparently, a couple of CSE students seemed to find it amusing," he said. "Maybe they wouldn't have expected such a scene from their stiff and serious Senior Michael," he chuckled.
"He was just helping me,"
"Yea, Nisha filled me everything," he shrugged. "But why are you looking for him now?" He looked at me teasingly.
"It's about the project!" I added quickly. "And even though I am in love with him, I don't want to make people misunderstand him or talk behind his back," I added.
"Take it easy, Ella," Sam smiled. "Mike is a tough guy, people cannot get under his skin easily," He said and I nodded slowly, feeling relieved.
"He went to see Abraham sir," Sam smiled and nodded.
Five minutes later, I was waiting outside the department when finally Michael and Abraham sir walked out.
"Ella!" Abraham sir noticed me first and called me and Michael turned around, his eyebrows furrowed slightly.
"Cinderella?" He said.
Even Abraham sir is calling me Ella! Why can't he just do it!?
"I want to discuss something," I said, and then noticed Abraham sir, "Um... I can wait,"
"That's not necessary, we already finished with our talk," Abraham sir said.
"Great," I smiled at him while Michael gave him a warning look. He shrugged it off and walked away.
"What's it?" Michael turned to me. "I thought the nurse told you to not walk around," he said.
"I don't have your number," I pouted. "I wanted to tell you something personal," I said.
"I think we are not that close, Cinderella... um... Ella," he corrected himself at my look.
"It's about the project," I pouted.
So five minutes later, we were both in the cafe in front of the college.
"So... tell me, what's so important?" He asked me across from me.
I took a sip of my Caramel Macchiato before slowly looking up at him. I can't believe that I am sitting across from Michael!
"I am okay with it," I said slowly. "I am okay with helping the group with their reference materials," I said.
So you don't have to worry about me...
Michael crossed his hands across his chest and looked at me coolly.
And kind of hotly... I must add, his biceps flexed and he looked more attractive with his...
My thoughts were cut off at his answer, "Cinderella, do you by chance think that I am doing this for your sake!?" He asked me and I looked at him.
Michael.
I was taken aback by her look.
Uh... did she really think I am worried about her?
Surely she's not that naive!
Well... it's true that I am a bit bothered about her sprained ankle, but that's not anything special!
"I want all of my team members to work hard," I said. "If you want to work under me, there will not be any short cuts. You will have to do what you have to do, the same rules apply to everyone," I looked at her for a moment. "Or you can quit if it's very difficult,"
"Oh no! I am ready to work hard," she looked horrified at the thought of quitting. "It's just that... I was starting to get along with everyone, they are approaching me to get their papers and all," she pouted.
Surely she is not this stupid!? She doesn't even know it when they are using her!?
"Stop doing things for others to get in their good book," I said. "Use your sincerity to get along with the others,"
"But I am really okay with helping them,"
"Listen to me, this is my project, so follow the rules, I won't allow this," I said sternly.
"Why did you make me the organizer then?" She asked me.
Uh... she has a point there, but I was really not intending to make her the errand girl!
"An organiser works for the team leader," I looked at her sternly.
"Really?" She looked genuinely curious.
"Yes, your duty is to only listen to my order, you cannot go around taking orders from everyone," I said.
She looked at me for a long moment, deep in thought. Then slowly her face started to light up, making me slightly wary.
Within a short time of knowing her, I have come to realise that Cinderella has a special way of thinking. Her brain doesn't work like the others.
In other words, She has no common sense... she is exactly the type of people I don't usually associate with.
"I understand," She nodded brightly. "I will only take orders from you," she added again.
"That doesn't mean that you shouldn't get along with the others," I said. "It's your fault if you cannot get along with the others,"
She nodded again.
"I will definitely get them to accept me," she nodded her head determined and I had a sudden sense of alarm.
"Don't do anything...Unusual..." I said slowly and she smiled beautifully.
Abraham sir is right; she is cute when she has this bright look and pretty smile- uh... But that's not my concern anyway...
"I will leave then," I got up from the chair.
Ella.
I am Michael's personal organiser for the project!
Yay!
And he doesn't like me running around with my injured foot.
My phone started to ring and I took it up.
It was from Uncle Jose, my driver.
Crap! He must be waiting for me!
I got up and started to walk
------------------------
Hey guys,
Does it bother you that Michael is calling her "Cinderella", what do you think?
