William’s POV
I stared at Irene silently, wondering why her reactions seemed to change. I initially thought she was silent, laid back and almost non-reactive. Well, that was how I saw her since I first met her. However, her recent interactions with Menard had me wondering if I was mistaken in judging her that way. She seems different. In fact, she seems to have gotten stronger. I don’t know if my eyes are deceiving me, but I cannot reconcile the naive lady who cannot answer back to her mom years ago and the one who argued with Menard just now.
“So, Menard and William will represent us then,” Neo said, which cut my deep thinking and brought me to the present.
I shook my head but realized that I was still staring at her and she was now staring back at me. Suddenly, my heart beat faster
