Winter’s POV:
I slowly slid my bare feet across the white stone floor, the coolness of the stones crept through my heels and travelled through my spine. I’d chosen to leave my winter boots behind as they caused too much noise as I made my way through the packhouse. Cyrus’s house was centuries-old with many different Alpha’s living there before him. I attempted to learn all that I could about the territory and yet there was only so much that one could learn while being an outsider. I may have been Cyrus’s daughter, but I was an outcast who everyone either looked down upon or belittled. Those born within the Blood Moon Pack didn’t accept outsiders, not even if they had their Alpha’s approval.
Muttering voices surfaced from the opposite side of the hall, an indication that I was no longer alone.
I need to keep moving, I thought to myself as I made my way down a separate hallway.
My feet quietly glided along the stone floor as I kept my back against the wall, I couldn’t risk getting caught at night. I sighed slightly as I steadied my breath, I needed to be careful with where I roamed within these halls for if Cyrus picked up on my scent then I was done for. Everyone had forgotten over the years that he had an adopted daughter, a weak creature that he found in the forest as an infant, they begged their alpha to put me back where he found me and allow me to die a slow and agonizing death.
I need to find a way to survive.
“Ah!” I cried out as I collided with a solid form.
I glanced up confused as his arms embraced me with my face buried within his broad chest, he smelled like roasted hazelnut, the delicious scent made my nose tingle and my mouth water as I was reminded of an incredible warmth and sweets adorning my tongue. His crystalline blue eyes glanced down at me with curiosity and awe as he held me to him with his breath growing erratic within his chest, my irises dilated as I flicked my tongue over my top lip mischievously, there was something about him that I craved ay that moment and I could tell he could see the desired hidden behind my innocent gaze.
Mine, the possessive thought lingered within my mind as he spoke.
“Are you okay?” he asked somewhat perplexed.
“I am now,” I murmured as I bit my bottom lip.
“You’re cockier than earlier,” he said with a smirk.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I murmured as a blush caressed my cheeks.
I shook my head aggressively as a dull pain shot through my temporal lobe causing me to wince, I’d gotten used to the headaches over time and yet it grew difficult to avoid this time, the closer I grew to him the greater the migraine’s grew.
“What’s wrong?” He asked as if sensing my discomfort.
“It’s nothing,” I said as I avoided eye contact.
A darkened look emerged from his eyes as he raised his hand and pushed my auburn hair away from my face and linked the loose strands behind my ear. My breath caught within my throat as his fingertips grazed against my reddening cheeks and yet I couldn’t stop the electrifying feeling that coursed through my cells and travelled between us. The feeling was unavoidable as he released a shuddering breath the moment the same sensation hit him at the same time.
“Who are you?” He asked curiously as he narrowed his gaze.
“I’m nobody,” I said as I gritted my teeth nervously.
There is no way someone like him would accept me, I thought sullenly.
The murmurings that I had heard just a few moments before were growing in volume as they headed towards our direction. I quickly looked behind me with panic building within my chest with my face openly revealing my true fears. The man tilted his head slightly at me as he followed my gaze to where the voices were coming from.
“Do you not want anyone to find you?” He asked slightly bemused.
I bit my lip nervously and pushed on his chest in a weak attempt to push past him, I wasn’t used to the strength of that of a Werewolf and it showed. I wanted to escape from being noticed only by now it was too late. The voices rounded the corner and finally came into view.
“s**t,” I whimpered.
The man suddenly grabbed at my arms roughly and spun me away from the approaching forms and pinned me against the wall. I shrieked slightly from the sudden movement as he pinned me there, he hesitated slightly before he placed his arm on the wall just beside my face covering my vision of the oncoming strangers.
“What are you-" I started only for him to cut me off as he aggressively placed his lips upon mine.
“Shut up,” He said briefly before placing his other hand on my waist and pulled me into him and simultaneously used his body weight to pin me to the wall.
I whimpered slightly as I began to push on his chest in defiance only stopped as my body froze when I realized it was Kyson with his friends who was just beginning to pass us. I held my breath as they approached us.
“Hey!” Kyson called out.
My body stiffened as Kyson’s voice run through my ears, I shivered from fear as I imagined what he would do to me if he caught me. The white-haired man nuzzled his face gently against the crook of my neck, his touch instantly settled my nerves as an intimate yearning awoke within the pit of my stomach. I shudder from under his weight as I imagined his canines grazing against my skin and claiming me as his own. I barely noticed that he was purposefully positioning his body so that Kyson couldn’t see who he was with.
“I’m a bit busy,” He said as he mumbled the words against my exposed neck.
“It sure didn’t take you long to take up Cyrus’s offer, Aziza!” Kyson said with a laugh.
Aziza? I thought to myself as his name repeated itself within my head.
