“Where did you find that pendant and where is my sister?” He demanded. I stared at him for a couple more seconds until the few similarities started to sink in. He had the same hair colour as my mate.
“My name is Javier Deviller, I work in the special forces. I found your sister while we were raiding a hideout of human traffickers,” I made that up but it was somewhat similar to the truth anyway. At the information that I gave him, his eyes widened.
“Human trafficking? Are you sure it was her? Wait…” He trailed off before taking his phone out and showing me a picture of my mate. I nodded at him. He looked furious at this before he demanded, “Tell me where is she and who dared to do that to her. I will not spare them,” He gritted.
I was now aware that he was a very powerful man.
“She is currently in Yeldon, where I work and as for the people who did it, we are taking good care of them,” I told him but he still seemed very furious.
“I want to talk to her. Can you put me on phone with her?” He asked urgently.
“I am afraid you would need to come with me to Yeldon to look at her because she is in no condition to talk,” I told him and instantly anxiousness decorating his face.
“Why? Has something happened to her? Is she dead?” He demanded next. I shook my head at him before informing him, “She is alive but she underwent an operation for a cervical fracture. She is doing fine now but still unconscious,”
“My name’s Brandon Hermanson. I am flying to Yeldon with you tonight,” He told me. That night, he flew me back to Yeldon in his private jet. While on the flight, he told me that he was heir to Estelle company and many other companies that his father owned and that my mate- Stella happened to be his youngest sister.
I also tried to get to know more about my mate from him but I was very subtle about my interest in her in front of Brandon.
“She’s studying fine arts in Eastgar college. I always disliked that place but she somehow managed to convince father to let her go,” He muttered the last part more to himself but I was able to hear him clearly due to my lycan abilities.
I recognized the college name. It wasn’t very far from where I lived, “Before she went missing, she told us that she was going to this art exhibition in Spinefall,”
“We found her in one of the warehouses in the outskirts of that city. It’s a dangerous place, Spinefall,” I told him before he continued to tell me a bit about their business in the frozen country of Eston and how big there were in the capital, Arcta.
My mate definitely came from a very influential and powerful family. The way his brother was talking about her, I knew they had a good relationship and it would be very difficult for me to mingle with her due to Brandon.
He was already talking about taking her back to Arkta the next day. I wasn’t very happy to hear that but at the same time, I knew that there wasn’t much I could do to stop him. There wasn’t any language in which I could explain to him what Stella meant to me.
It was early in the morning when we landed in Yeldon and drove straight to the hospital from the airport. I had already informed Dossam and Ace about Brandon’s arrival so they were already in the hospital when I arrived there with Brandon.
He was instantly taken to the room where Stella was kept for recovery. She was still unconsciousness but Dossam informed us that she was healing quickly and that there were chances of Stella waking up soon.
I and my lycan were happy to hear that but sad at the same time because Brandon would take her anyway.
“That’s great. I will be forever grateful to you for taking care of my sister. You can prepare the discharge papers now. I will take her away today,” Brandon informed Dossam.
I flinched at Brandon’s words and Dossam glanced at me with a look of pity before she tried to convince Brandon, “She can stay here until she completely recovers. We have the best staff in the country here. She will be taken care of like a princess!”
“Thanks for that but it wouldn’t be necessary anymore. I am going to take her home. There she wouldn't have to deal with strangers,” Brandon told Dossam in a dismissing way before he gave me a sharp look.
“Mr Hermanson,” Dossom tried again while I could only stand and watch. I wanted to say a lot of things to Brandon but I couldn’t decide how. Meanwhile, Dossom spoke, “She is my patient and she hasn’t recovered yet. This makes me unable to discharge her. It’s against hospital rules,”
“You don’t have to care about that. I’ll talk to the hospital manager. I am sure whoever it is, they wouldn’t refuse me. My father would be here any minute too,” Brandon told Dossom while I drowned deeper into the sorrow of parting with Stella even before she could know that I exist.
“Brandon,” I tried this time, “Dossom is the best doctor we have got. She will take good care of Ste-“
“Enough!” He held his hand up to shush me. I pressed my lips in a thin line because it was very much rude and it instantly pissed my lycan off. He was already mad at Brandon because he wanted to take Stella away from me.
“Alright,” Dossom gritted before she walked away. I knew that we had lost to Brandon then. Brandon shot me a mean look before he walked away to attend a call. Meanwhile, I paced around, trying to think of something that would stop Brandon from taking my mate away.
Soon, another old man arrived in suit and tie. I instantly knew that it was Brandon's father. In fact, I had seen the man in multiple news articles and several times on television too. He was one of the richest men out there.
"Thank you very much for saving my daughter, Mr Deviller," He told me while shaking my hand before Dossom let him see Stella. I was only allowed to stand outside while I heard Dossom, Brandon and his father look at Stella and talk about her inside the room.
I tried to listen to them from outside. It was pretty much of Dossom telling them what happened to Stella. While they talked, some commotion took place before another doctor rushed into the room.
From all I could hear, Stella had woken up finally. At this, my lycan urged me to go inside and look at her but I knew that I couldn't. My hands were tied. I couldn't do anything but listen to them trying to talk to my mate.
After some moments, Dossom walked out of the room and told me what I already knew, "She is awake, Jave,"
"I know," I groaned as I took a seat and ran my hands through my hair. She looked at me with the same pity as she placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Don't worry, I'll try to do something so that you can see her before she leaves," She tried to cheer me up but it was of no use to me because she was leaving anyway and it would be probably very hard for me to see her.
