He could sleep until his Master came in through the front door when they would wake him. Lord Selwyn let the man help him undress, but did not speak until he was ready for bed. Then he said in his ordinary voice, “Start packing first thing in the morning, Higgins. We will be leaving for Penang either tomorrow or first thing the following day. It is near the Equator.” There was a second’s silence.
