The Fight

She launched at me with full speed. I duke my body avoiding her attack. She kept launching at me, using her all of her strength and power way to quick. It was obvious for everybody that she wasn’t used to fight. I dodged all of her attacks with ease. I concentrated and launched for my attack. The whole crowd was looking with big eyes, as my whole wolf body was flying elegant in the air, grabbing her light by the neck and pulling her down to the ground. It had been an easy fight. But I was also used to fight form all intruders that was trying to take over my pack. I could hear the applause around the field. I removed my teeth for her neck and turned around to change. Suddenly the crown stopped clapping and gasped. Everything went in slowmotion. I turned around to see her wolf flying in the air coming towards me, towards my throat. I had only just realized what was happening when a huge black wolf slammed her to the ground. You could hear bones cracking. Some guards quickly removed her from the field. I was in shock. Did Christian really just attack Danielle to protect me? I gave him a node to show him that I appreciated his help and turn around and ran into the woods to change. Taylor was following me, making sure nobody would try to attack me. ” Are you alright” he mind linked me. “Yeah. But that was a bit unexpected” I mind linked him back. “You fought very well. Your parents would have been proud” I smiled at the taut of them and changed clothes.   Back at the palace the last dinner was about to be ready. After this everybody would go back to their territories and go back to their normal life again. I walked along the side of the table to see where my name would be. As I predicted it was the same place where I sat at yesterday’s dinner. But the name next to me had changed to Christian. I could feel the butterflies in my belly. “Looks like we’re sitting next to each other” Christians voice suddenly whispered in my ear. He was standing close next to me. It took all my strength not to be girly and shy. “Yeah, I guess so...” I answered trying to sound as careless as possible.   He pulled the chair out for me and went to the other side to take his seat next to me. “By the way, where leaving tonight at nine. Charles will come and get your stuff from your room” I looked at him looking like a big question mark, not knowing a clue of what he was talking about. “Ehm, sorry, I have no clue of what you’re talking about” I answered him back. “Well you’re coming with me to my pack? You’re my mate after all?!” I he looked at me as if it was obvious. “Sorry, what? After not speaking to me since we found out that were mates, you now think that I will follow you to your pack.? You must be delusional…!” I looked at him with wide eyes. “You’re my mate, of course you’re coming home with me, that’s how the traditions are!” he talked back to me. I rolled my eyes at him and answered: “Of course, I’m not. I’m the Alpha in my pack, I can’t just leave and come with you. Even if I wanted to… Which I don’t…” He looked at me for a moment and the answered: “We will talk about this after the dinner…” I looked at him and said “No, there is nothing to talk about. I’m going back to my pack after this dinner…” He shook his head and said “we will see about that” I didn’t want to ague about it, so I looked back at the the food that just had been served.   After the dinner I walked over to the room where Taylor and the other second and third from all the packs where eating. Taylor was standing and talking with a tall light-haired guy. I walked over to him and asked him to follow me. We walked into a quiet room, and after making sure nobody was hearing us, I said to him: “Christian is under the impression that I have to follow him to his pack… We need to leave before he starts another argument about it…” He gave me a small smile. “You know it’s a very important tradition that the mate of an alpha comes and meets his pack Everline... You can’t break traditions like that…” I looked angry at him. “Im an alpha too. He can just come and visit our pack instead…” He nodded and answered: “I just talked to Charles, Christians second, and he said that Christian want you to take the pack with you, to live at his place. They have a large territory where there’s plenty of space for our small pack.” I looked at him even angrier then before. “We have fought so many battles to keep our territory, and now you just want us to give it up? Why the heck would I do that?” I looked at me and stroke my shoulder trying to calm me. “Come on Everline. We both know that territory isn’t safe. Someday soon we will lose it. The packs surrounding us might have taken it as we speak. And you and Christian have to find a territory that you will live in together. Why can’t it be his? It is larger and we would be safer. My family would be safer.” I looked him in the eyes and could see the sadness in his eyes. Ginny was pregnant, and the fear of losing a child in an attack made him sad. I knew that he was right. It would be a lot safer living with another pack. And Christians pack had a lot of good and strong warriors. I nodded and turned around to walk out of the room with Taylor following me. Christian was standing in the hall together with his second Charles. Christian was just about to open his mouth to convince me to come, when I interrupted him. “Okay I’m coming with you. But only if my pack is coming too.” He smiled and nodded. “I will arrange cars to pick the all up in the morning.” We walked over to a big SUV that was waiting for us in front of the house and began the long driver towards Christians territory. Towards a new life.
