Around six, Alpha Simon finally texted me back and told me he would bring up by the warehouse as soon as the meetings were done. I was relieved that everything was falling into place. I got dressed with Lisa at around 7:30 pm and then drove to the warehouse. As soon as we entered it was everything I had imagined. The lights, decorations, balloons, and food. I had made sure to get a buffet style so I could have all of James's favorites out. There were five pool tables and even dartboards. On the other side, there was a dance floor and some seating booths. I was excited and ready for James to arrive.
"Aria," I heard Mrs. Silver call.
"Claire," I answered."What do you think?"
"He'll love it," she told me.
"Great," I said as I grabbed her hand and showed her around. Mr. Silver finally arrived with Jack and James's cake.
"Hey punk," I said to Jack as I lightly punched him in the arm.
"I'll drop his cake, try me," he joked.
"No, don't," I pleaded. He pretended to lose his grip but then I took the cake from him and elbowed him in the stomach.
"Come on, he should be here soon," I motioned for Jack to follow me.
An hour went by, James still was a no show. I texted Alpha Simon but he didn't reply. I told everyone to eat and have fun while we waited. I went to sit at one of the booths with Lisa and Jack. I tried not to show my sadness or nervousness. I was trying to stay calm but I was worried he might not show up. I know he was worried about last night's attack but I was fine. The party was in full swing now and everyone was either playing pool, dancing or eating. I decided to go and dance with Lisa and Jack. I was having fun and trying to not think of the party as being a bust. At this point, there were so many people here but still no James. Jack decided to go play pool with his dad and Lisa wanted to go eat. I stayed and kept dancing. As I danced in the middle of the dance floor I felt his energy. It wrapped around me like wind and it felt warm and comforting.
"Your late," I said softly. "And you ruined the surprise."
"Aria, Simon told me about the party, sorry," James said as he wrapped his arms around my waist. "Forgive me."
"No," I joked. He started to kiss my neck and swayed with me. I could feel his member getting hard on my backside. "Down boy." I knew he was smiling but I didn't turn around.
"Do you like it?" I asked.
"Of course," he answered quickly.
"Are you going to tell me what kept you so long?" I asked trying to sound pissed.
"Later," he said. "I like your dress."
"I know," I said as I unwrapped his arms from my waist. "Go eat." I knew he was sad about my cold attitude but we have always been a team and he never kept things from me. I just wanted to turn the night around but this looming feeling was not letting me. James ate some food and then went to play pool with his dad. I went back to dancing but I could feel his eyes on me from time to time. I tried not to look at him because I knew I would forgive him if I looked into his eyes. I think he knew it too. I knew he didn't like all the other eyes on me either and I felt his heart race and his emotions become unsteady. I tried not to dance to provocative but the music was just right. Lisa was just as a wild and good dancer as I was. I felt her grind on me and I knew both Matt and James's eyes fall on us. I felt James in front of me within seconds.
"Please, stop that," he said. "Or else I am going to have to take you in one of those booths."
"What will your parents say," I said.
"What will your parents say," he retorted.
"Dance with me?" I asked. James hated dancing but he couldn't refuse me. He grabbed my waist and began to follow my lead.
"So, are you not angry with me anymore," he said with a pouty face.
"I'll forgive you if you tell me what you have been up to," I said. He stayed quiet. "Exactly." I decided to tease him a little. I danced closer to him and turned around so I could grind on his lower body. My short dress lifts up a bit when I move. At one point I even grabbed a bit and held it up as if I was going to lift it up even more. James would grab my hands so I would let go of my dress when I did that.
We were still having a good time even though he completely ignored my request.
Out of nowhere, we heard glass shatter and James ran to go check. Apparently, one of his men had just dropped a couple of beers on the ground. While everyone was occupied looking at the commotion I was still on the dance floor. I noticed a shadowy figure by the door. I couldn't sense his presence or smell him so I knew no one else noticed him in the room. He was just staring at me and as much as I wanted to make a scene I knew James would overreact. I was walking closer to the shadow when suddenly we all heard howling.
"Take the women and our parents back to our lands," James shouted to some of his men. He quickly ran to me and asked me to go with me. I was angry again and said no. Alpha Simon was by our side and tried to persuade me to leave too.
"I am going to protect you alpha Silver whether you like it or not," I said sharply.
"Look what we have here," an unknown man said. "WHERE IS HE?"
"LEAVE NOW!" James shouted.
"Where is who?" I whispered to James.
"Please go," he said as he kissed my forehead.
"Your mate," the man said.
"WHERE IS THE BLACK WOLF?" another man yelled. There were at least twenty men but we still had more since we had invited not just all of the men in our pack but some of Simon's pack and other packs too.
"You're looking for a black wolf," I said.
"ARIA!!" James shouted. I looked over to him and rolled my eyes. "That's what this is all about."
"WHERE IS HE?" They all asked again.
"James, seriously stop treating me like a child. They want the black wolf, let's give it to them," I said. I quickly shifted and turned into my wolf form. A big pitch-black wolf. A completely black wolf was very rare nowadays. Just like James's pure white wolf was. I guess we were really made for each other.
"That's the wolf," one man said. I pounced on him before he could say another word. Suddenly, James and the other men shifted and attacked the other men. I took down around five myself. I howled in pride and then ran back to our land. I didn't want to wait for him because I was still angry that he lied to me. They were looking for me and I know he wanted to keep me safe but I would have been more understanding knowing the truth. Plus his birthday was ruined after all these weeks of planning. I was going to give him some of my form of punishment now.
