9 The trio reached the top step and Sarah looked through the door. She started back, nearly losing both their balances. Through the doorway was not a hall or a ground-floor room, but a large bedroom. The headboard of a tall, four-post bed frame stood against a wall on the left, and on the right was a dusty dresser above which hung a tall oval mirror that time had tarnished. Opposite them was the door to the room. “What kind of fun house is this?” she whispered. “Crazy Mary’s kind of fun,” Adam quipped. “We have no choice but to go through,” Diana insisted. Sarah sighed and shrugged. “All right.” They stepped into the room. Sarah paused and glanced over her shoulder. They’d stepped out of an armoire, and the wide doors slammed shut behind them.
