Alarous’s pov
The moment I reached my office I couldn’t control myself anymore, I punched the wall making a big hole in it. Though it did nothing to soothe all the pent up anger and frustration in me.
The mere thought of her leaving me makes me want to set everything on fire. I have waited for a thousand years for her, I finally found her, and I can’t let her go. I won’t let her go.
The door swung open and my mother stood there with a concerned look. Turning away I closed my eyes and took deep breaths to calm myself. Elise was brought here in secrecy, I had brought her in at night while everyone had been in deep sleep. They have to know I found my beloved mate, even though she doesn’t love me, hates me even.
Not letting my mind go into a frenzy again I muster up the courage to tell my mother about her.
“Mother you should know something. I found my-”
“Mate”
I stiffened at the word, not only because my mother knew about her but also because it made my urge to go back and hold Elise intensify by a thousand. I looked at mother with curiosity and shock.
“How did you know about her? I had strictly informed the staff not to let this news spread.”
A chuckled escaped her as she came closer to me.
“You still have so much to learn mio figlio. You should remember I was the queen before the crown was passed down to you, give the old lady some credit dear.” She replied with a smile. The wrinkled around her eyes were visible when she did so, showing off her old age.
(My son)
“So you must also know that she is a human.”
“Yes. And also that you brought her here against her will. You alpha males need to not do that.” Her amusement was clear in her voice but I tried to ignore it and the fact that she in fact knew everything.
“Not to do what mother?”
“Go all caveman on your mate. And approach them in a civil manner.”
I sighed and ran my fingers through my dark locks.
“She hates me.”
“No she doesn’t.” she placed a hand on my shoulder.
“Well then she must really, really dislike me then.”
“You men jump on conclusions very quickly.” She said with a sigh of disappointment as she sat on the sofa at the side of the room.”
“What do you mean to say mother?”
“For a lycan and an alpha king, you are rather dim witted. Tell me Alarous, how long has it been since you brought her here?” she asked with an eyebrow raised.
“Last night. I brought her to the castle last night.” I answered.
“Then how do you expect her to love you in such a short span. And I am not wrong then you never had a normal conversation to her before. You took her from her home against her will, brought her to an unknown place among unknown people. It won’t surprise me if she wanted to run away from you or not want to see you. It is expected of her.”
Mother’s explanation did not make me feel any better or rather the opposite, I feel foolish to let myself out of control and bring her here. Mother was right, I jump to conclusions very fast. I did not give her time to know me, understand me and vice versa.
I have to keep my lycan in control if I want to make a progress, she is a human, and she doesn’t understand the norms of the werewolf / lycan culture.
After all she is going to be my queen in the future, she has a lot to learn and understand, and she needs time.
“The look on your face tells me you understood what I wanted to say. Now that we are through this, I want to meet her.” She said and her warm brown eyes twinkled with joy.
I was still skeptic about her meeting any one of my family members, I was planning on hiding her in the east wing till I was ready to let everyone know about their queen and my mate. But I couldn’t say no to my mother, I am her only son after all, she had been planning the arrival of my mate as long as I have.
So I gave in and told her to follow me. The east wing is on the other side of the castle and usually vacant. That is why I chose to make her stay there, no one wanders there.
Suddenly my mind wandered to Elise. I wonder what she might be doing. Did she eat her breakfast? Doctor said her blood pressure was low, it irked me to think she was in this condition because of me.
I had told Jonah to bring an injection to knock her out for a few hours, as much as it pained me I had to do it in order to get her here. Jonah is my delta and he is smart most of the time but that one of those moments when his smartness flew out of the window.
He had brought a sedative made for werewolves! My mates pitied body fell asleep as soon as it entered her system and kept her knocked out for a whole twenty four hours till I got the doctor to heal her.
My thoughts of strangling Jonah for his silly but grave mistake came to a halt was we stopped at the door of the room my beloved was in. her beautiful face appeared in my mind and her cheerful smile made me think of a beautiful summer day.
It made me sad that I would not be on the receiving side of it, not anytime soon anyway.
The love I felt for her cannot be compared to anything and even if she ever loves me a fraction of how much I love her in the future, I would be content.
“Are you going to open the door?” mother said and gave me an encouraging smile. I took a deep breath and nodded, twisting the knob. But nothing could have prepared me for what was to come.
