CHAPTER 4

ELISE'S POV “Found you.” I shivered from the sensation of the stranger’s hot breath so close to my ear. It took me a few seconds to register what was happening and I tried to wiggle out of my potential kidnapper’s hold. I had taken martial arts classes when I was six years old on dad’s insistence and I’m extremely glad that I did. I pulled my right leg up front and kicked back with force. His hands on my mouth and shoulder instantly loosen. I turned around and saw the guy sprawled on the ground clutching his knees that I guess I broke. I was not - so - pleasantly surprised when I saw his face. Mr. Green eyes. His face was as gorgeous as the last time I saw him but his intentions seemed anything but good. He slowly stood back up and faced me. His face was blank but his green eyes – they held the same emotion as the other day in the restaurant. I backed up as he took a step forward. “Such a beautiful day, isn’t it?” he said coolly as if the last few minutes did not happen and we were best buddies or something. “It was. Until you almost assaulted me. Jerk!” I hissed and narrowed my eyes at him. “Now, why would I do that sweets? It was just a misunderstanding.” He replied with a lazy frown. Misunderstanding?  And he thought I’ll buy this crap? “I don’t care whatever it is. Stay away from me! Or you will regret it.” With that said, I turned around to walk away but he caught my wrist. A sharp jolt of tingles shot up my spine as he did. I turned around but he grabs my wrist pulling me back to him. I scowled and faced him again, ready for a fight. But I was caught off guard seeing his expression. He looked conflicted. A hit of sadness in his eyes that would not be seen if I weren’t so close. “I’m sorry.” He said, his voice was nothing more than a whisper. “I don’t care. Leave me alone.” I snapped and tried to loosen his grip on my wrist but he held on tighter. What is wrong with this guy?! “That is something I cannot do coure mio. I can’t let you go.” “I said leave me alone you arse! What do you want from me?!” I cried out in frustration all the while trying to get out of his vice like grip. “I just want you cara nothing else. Come with me.” “My name is not cara! And I’m not going anywhere with you!” he let out a soft chuckle and his face held amusement. How dare he laugh at me! If I could just get out of his hold, I would claw his eyes out! Then in a split second his expression hardened and he went rigid. His eyes were filled with regret and reluctance. What? “I am sorry that I have to do this amor mio, but I have no other choice.” Before I could register anything he said I felt a slight pinch on my other arm and I felt dizzy. My blurry eyes tried to find the culprit but caught nothing more than a disfigured silhouette. My body felt heavy and my legs couldn’t take the weight anymore, I felt myself falling as everything went black.     “But that was not the right thing to do! She is a human Alarous! What good can she do to the kingdom?” a female voice squeaked and I unconsciously cringed at the sound of it. “Do not utter a word against her Marana, it will not do you any good. And she is born to rule, she is as good as any other female in my kingdom. Do not question the goddess’s actions.” A deep voice growled. I had a strong feeling they were talking about me. Even the voice sounded familiar but I am not able to pin point it. That’s when I felt the pain. My whole body felt as if on fire except my right hand which felt numb. I groaned in pain and extreme discomfort. I pried my eyes open but shut them again due to the blinding lights shining on my face. “She is waking up. I don’t want you making any ruckus. Go back to your chambers now and keep your mouth shut about the concerning matter.” With a huff and a final growl I heard the door close signaling that one of the two had left. “Open your eyes cuore mio. You have kept me waiting for too long.” The same silky deep voice said, now closer and much softer. I slowly peeled my eyes open and blinked a couple of times to get rid of the blurriness. (My heart) I was aware of then soreness in my body and let out a soft groan of discomfort.  My eyes settled on the figure not far away from my own and tried to focus. My eyes widened when they landed on my kidnapper. I wanted to scream but my throat felt dry and scratchy. I started to cough violently and in an instant a glass of water appeared in front of me. I gulped down the contents of the glass and let out a sigh in content. I could feel his gaze on me. My panic was soon replaced by anger. I am not a very violent person but this guy managed to anger me twice in a shot span. He looked different though. He looked nothing like the bad boy that entered the restaurant that day, which seemed like such a long time ago. He was sporting a business man look. Dark blue dress pants with a crisp white shirt, a waist coat snuggling his body like second skin. How can he move in those, but he looked like a god’s creation, which I highly doubt because his actions are like a devils spawn. I did not dare look anywhere but him. Distraction is the last thing I want right now. His face was hard but his eyes full of warmth. The room was eerily quiet and the uncomfortable silence was deafening me. “Where am I?” I asked, my tone no more than a whisper but I’m sure he heard me. He was a couple foot away from me and I was glad for the distance. Millions of questions were spinning in my head that I needed the answers of but I held myself back. “You are in my kingdom, in my palace.” He answered after a pause. I almost scoffed at his answer, of course. He was smart, he won’t tell me what city I am in, or country. “Why am I here? What do you want from me? I am not even that rich, k********g and keeping me hostage is useless!” I cried out in frustration and desperation. I just want to go back home! His rigid posture wavered for a split second, I almost thought I imagined it. But his emotionless face did not change. “You will know dolcezza. Nothing will be kept from you, but first you need to rest. I will send someone to tend to you.” with those words said he existed the room.  (Sweetheart)
