Chapter FourLater the same day, Uncle Brendon, Mum's brother, arrived, and asked if Ben would like to go up to Central Park. “They're putting on a military tattoo,” he said, “and I thought we could wander around and take a look at the preparations.” Bouncing up and down in front of his mum, Ben stopped when he caught the look on Nan's face. For one awful moment, he thought she might say something, but then Mum ruffled his hair, “Why not. That will be great fun, won't it, Ben?” “Wow, thanks Mum.” As he went to the door, he paused for a moment, catching Nan's eye again.
