CHAPTER 3— I CHOOSE HER

970 Words
Xavier stepped down from his high seat, walking confidently down the steps at the side of the podium. Without hesitance, he lodged himself before the women who cowered at his presence. Whispers could be heard among the room and yet Xavier didn’t waver, his eyes were so cold, so serious...even as they ran along the beautiful faces of the unmated girls. “You...” He pointed at one of them and with eyes as wide as saucers and a racing heart, Celia watched as the girl he called upon stepped forward. “Yes alpha...” Her voice was soft, her head bowed...it seems she had been trained for this. “What’s your name?” “A-Anna Treston.” Xavier took a step towards her, lifting her chin and Celia’s heart felt as though a rope was tied tight around it. Would he re— “Step aside Anna...I don’t think you’re her...” The girl bowed her head and did as told and Xavier continued onto the other girls. One by one he analysed them until no more was left and only then did he step back. “I choose...” He trailed off and the room that was quiet before became even quieter. Celia became frozen in anticipation, anxiety killing her. She could feel the sweat as it rolled slowly down her forehead and surprise floated throughout her body when her scent greeted her from a distance... The mask was wearing off, she had to get out of here, but not now, not yet, she had to see, she had to know... Xavier was suppose to be hers, he was suppose to choose only her, he was... Tears blurred her vision, and she took a shaky step back when Kail looked over at her. He sniffed the air, his eyes widening in recognition as he whispered. “A rogue...you’re a rogue.” It seems his whispered words got through to everyone for she became the centre of attention. Growls could be heard and yet instead of moving, instead of running for her life, she stood unmoving in her place. Rogues were frowned upon, they weren’t allowed anywhere near packs, especially not this one. She had been too bold, but right now, she didn’t care. Despite the commotion in the room, her eyes searched for Xavier, not being able to spot him through the crowd that had surrounded her. “A rogue in the heart of the red blud pack...? You must’ve been searching for death, if so, you’ve found it.” Kail grabbed her hand, leading her towards the exit, but he stopped when the whispers got louder. Celia turned to look, watching as the crowd path and Xavier stepped through. “Her...I choose her.” He raised his hand pointing directly at her and Celia’s heart stopped beating all at once. What? He chose her? Did somethin...? How...? What...? Why...? “W-What? What do you mean?” “Step aside Kail.” Reluctantly, Kail let her loose, slowly stepping away from her. “Kaheel... brothe...I mean Alpha king, what is the meaning of this?” “Isn’t the reason of this ball for me to choose a mate? I did, I chose her.” “But she’s a rogue.” “And she’s an unmated woman too, isn’t she?” He looked towards Celia. “Come...” She took a step forward, but stopped when the former alpha king’s voice boomed across the room. “What is the meaning of this Kaheel? What are you doing? Bringing shame upon your name?” “Not at all father, I’m just doing what I’m supposed to.” He clenched his jaw and walked forward, grabbing Celia’s hand. The familiar sparks Celia would feel glided across the skin he touched and as he hauled her forward, her eyes only remained on his face, beholding his beauty. The anger in his facial expression was prominent and yet he was still the most handsome man she’d ever seen, just one simple touch from him could send pleasurable chills down her spine. His presence was that powerful to her. Soon he stopped hauling her and Celia finally notice just where they were. They were in a room, the entrance to it locked. She swallowed when he looked back at her. “Xavie—” “Kaheel, that’s my f*cking name.” Celia pursed her lips, his words lashing her like a whip. “Xavie—I mean Kaheel, what do you mean? Y...you said you chose me.” “That’s because I did.” “Why though?” “Certainly not out of love or choice...at the moment, it was the only sensible thing to do, you were in danger and I was about to do something I’d regret. Let’s just say we saved each other.” He dropped her hand and stepped closer towards her and Celia’s typical response was to step back until her back hit the walls. “Xavier what ar—?” Xavier sniffed her neck, his hands caging her against the walls. “Kaheel...” He grunted, “And are you desperate enough to flirt with anyone? My brother Celia, you were flirting with my brother.” “Did you see?” “I did, would’ve murdered you both if you were mine...but you’re not...at least not yet.” “What do yo..?” “You smell like her...you smell so much like her...Celeste my love.” **** *** A/N// F*ck you, Xavier!
