PROLOGUE— A BROKEN KING

745 Words
Xavier looked down at the people who stood below him, then at the crown his father held in his hand. It was designed in a unique way, the color a dark shade of red to represent the Pack’s name; The red Blud Pack. Xavier wasn’t sure how to describe his current feelings, but pride ran like blood through his veins. He was about to be crowned king; an accomplishment he never thought a rogue like him could achieve. After the war, everything changed, even he did. He wasn’t the old Xavier anymore, he was Kaheel now, not the son of Alpha Gregory but the son of Alpha King Hayden. He wasn’t soft, wasn’t an emotional wreck that’d break down because of a girl. He was over that, over Celeste and now all he had in mind was ruling his pack with a strong mind-set. If he faltered, they’d look down on him, his father told him he had to rule with an iron fist, nothing could go pass him. The simplest treason should result in a war and death would be the reward of those who defied him. He’d have to be strong enough to rule the entire existence of werewolves. They had to be afraid of him, kneel when he walked by. He had no room for sympathy, one slip and he’d slide. Fear ruled the world, and he had to become fear. He had no time for love. He had crept behind Celeste all his life and now he found something better to do. He helped her enough, protected her when the only thing she wanted to protect was Zillon. He’d stop letting her break his heart, for now, he’d have none…just an empty hole in his chest. He didn’t need a mate, the thrill he got from having people who’d lick his feet if he told them to would be what made him happy until he died. With eyes as bright as the full moon above, he watched as his father lifted the crown and placed it on top of his head. It fitted perfectly, it felt like it belonged…like it was made for his head. The crowd below roared and with nothing but the will to rule, he held his right hand up towards the bright sky. “I have been crowned, kneel to the new king!” Everybody dropped immediately, and Xavier stepped forward, looking down at them all with glowing hazel eyes. This was all he needed, or so he had thought. Three months prior, he realized that his life didn’t go as he thought it would. The people he thought would’ve licked his feet if he told them to were the same ones who had refused to move when he commanded them to. They didn’t look up to him as a king, all they saw was a rogue, someone unworthy of the throne he possessed. A protest started, they wanted him to step down and Xavier… Xavier did what he had to. And sadly, his reaction to their actions lead him in the slump he laid in three years prior. His life changed drastically, it had taken so many wrong turns and none of it was his fault. There was always this insatiable hunger within him, this bloodlust that had him hunting constantly. The wolf that reigned in his mind and his heart was much stronger than him. He couldn’t control it, he was too weak. It lead him into so many misfortunes and when he stepped out of them, there was always blood trailing behind him. He had killed so many because of simple misunderstandings and even slight disrespect, and their screams tormented him every single night. ‘Have mercy!’ ‘Please…’ ‘I beg you…’ Their pleads were like a crying bird in his ears, a memory but also a nightmare, but even so, he couldn’t stop. The bloodshed was what kept him sane… Nothing else could help, and no one stretched out a hand when he was screaming out for help on the inside. He pitied his life…pitied his own damn self... And he wondered, who'd come to hold his hand when he eventually slipped down into the hole he dug...? Who'd save him, from his demons...from himself? **** *** A/N// WELCOME TO BOOK 2!!!!
