Rules of Abyss

The Circus 🎪

I started to breathe heavily as I heard footsteps walking around. I could hear and feel the ax dragging against the floor. Currently, I am behind this door, and in an instant, I imagine my death.

The abyss arrived into the world, opening more entrances to other worlds, but it's not a good thing the entrances lead into more horror. People get chosen into these worlds. If you survive, you get an abundance reward, but not everyone makes it out alive.

There are 3 types of people 1.the newbies who have never experienced and are new, 2.the Expert, the ones who actually survive in the world many times, 3. the writers, the ones who created the worlds, of course the most hated one as well but, each job has their own difficulties.

Juan Lan's pov:

I was walking home from work as usual, until suddenly I heard a voice that called themselves “The System” it was a cold robotic voice "Juan Lan, congratulations you been chosen to play Abyss Rules: The Circus, difficulty level: 3 and a half star" not giving me the time to react "teleporting... completed.". The next time I opened my eyes and looked around, there were people there. I wasn't much surprised. I have heard many people talk about it and know that one day I will experience it too. I felt I had something in my hands it was a piece of paper on it, and it said:

Welcome, player. As in this world, your role will be a worker in the circus. There are 2 ways you can beat this game. One is that you survive 7 days until the entrance opens or if any of you are brave enough to find the truth of what happened in the circus.

Under this following will be rules you need to follow if you want to live. Of course, some of these rules may or may not be real,

1. The circus owner, if you met her, please act like you are working. No one likes lazy workers.

2. The circus owner is a female wearing a red dress and black hair. If you do a great job, you may talk with her and gain information.

3. Magician is a man with a purple bow tie. If you see a magician wearing a red bow tie, please report to the nearest clown they will take care of it.

4. There are only 3 clown triples, the oldest red clown boy, the middle blue clown girl, the youngest yellow clown boy. If you see any other clown that doesn't fit the descriptions above, please report to red clown, then find blue clown and say that red clown got into a fight, blue clown will thank you for telling her and give a gift.

5. The red clown tells lies. DON'T trust him. Blue clown tells the truth, but if the red clown is with her, don't believe her. Yellow clown tells both lies and truth.

6. There will be a little girl running around the circus. She is the daughter of the circus owner she won't get too naughty, but if she asked you to play a game, you may agree, if you don't want to play you can take her to the circus owner's office and use the reason that she is disturbing your work but, beware not to make her upset.

7. You will be assigned work each day. Please finish it. If you don't, you will face punishment. Or if you finish your work early, you may walk around and explore, but make sure to follow rules

8. The lion is always close or near its tamer, so if you find the lion without it's tamer please run before it notices you

Number 9 was blank, and I didn't understand, but under the rules, it said, "red is blue, blue is yellow, yellow is red" at the corner of this paper it said "flip it over" as I look to the other side of the paper it said"I hope you can survive this time, beware of what you see some creature can disguise themselves -T" then a cartoon face but who was T? I looked around, and everyone was reading their rules. I counted about 20 people, mostly about the age 19-27, a mix of male and female. I spotted a girl who was short and pale, then average. I'm not sure if it was her skin, or was she feeling fear, then I glanced at her clothes, "a patient at a mental hospital?!" I thought to myself a bit shocked.

"I have a great idea." One of the male said about 20, wearing glasses. "Let's team up. It makes the chance of survival higher," the others agree, but the others preferred solo. In this situation you don't know death and betrayal, which one comes first. I looked back over to the girl who had messy hair. I might have felt a bit of pity for her and it wasn't good but, I still walked up to her and asked, "Hey, do you want to team up with me?" I was nervous. I was not always great at talking. "Okay, " "Huh? " I looked the girl in her eyes "Okay" the girl smiled and repeated herself. She was nice. She had a nice face. It was just the messy hair "uh I'm Juan Lan what about you?" I asked,"Nuo Yao, " she replied."You can call me Yao Yao. That's what they all do. "

The door to the circus opened. It was the clown triplets "welcome to the circus!" A clown wearing red said excitedly. This wasn't weird, but what was weird was he was wearing a mask half showing his face. The mask was smiling just like his expression. "We hope everyone has a fun time, " said the blue clown in an expressionless face. The yellow clown just stood there quietly. I looked at their masks. The blue clown had a mask that was sad, and the yellow had anger. Then, the clown triples led us in and gave us our worker ID to prove our roles. "We have work for everyone," the red clown said as he called out everyone's names with their work. At this point, I was a bit nervous because, I'm not sure if Nuo Yao can do her job so, when it was my turn I asked if I could take Nuo Yao with me, My job was to clean the animal's cage I used the reason that two people would be much quicker. The red clown thought of it and then looked over at the two of us even though he was smiling, but I didn't feel like he was actually smiling, but, a cold stare, "alright" the red clown said "but if you can't finish it today I'll have your hand" he added as his smile grew I was a bit regretting my decision but if I let Nuo Yao go by herself, she might end up dying. I took her hand and walked over to the animal cages.

"1... 2... 3... 4..." Nuo Yao counted the cages I got right to work. I wasn't sure if letting Nuo Yao work was a great choice, but we really needed a lot of help. "Yao Yao, have you ever done any type of chores?" She nodded."I can wash dishes and wipe windows when I'm in my room alone. I clean all the time." Time went by. I finished most of the cage cleaning. I saw this huge cage. I'm not sure what animal this could be for... but I started cleaning. There was blood. I looked up, and my eyes widened. There was a corpse. I should scream right now but, their was something in my throat. What was I expecting from the difficulty level, 3 and a half stars if there is no blood or dead corpse that should be suspicious. I took a deep breath and calmed myself then looked over to Nuo Yao. She didn't seem scared or surprised. But I refocus myself. I didn't have much time before dinner time. If I couldn't finish this, I might actually die. "Do you need help?" The voice scared me. I turned around to see Blue Clown. I remembered what the rule had said and looked around for Red clown. "Brother is not here right now," she said as she saw my concerned face. "Yes, your help would be great." She walked and grabbed a mop and started mopping. As I wiped away the last stain, the time hit dinner. "I'll be leaving," the blue clown said. I thanked her for her help, then nodded and turned to Nuo Yao. "Let's go." I told Nuo Yao, and she followed behind me.

As me and Nuo Yao walked she pointed to somewhere, "Juan Lan, look, it's a cat!" I looked at where she was pointing it wasn't a cat it was a lion. My eyes widened, and I looked around. I didn't see the tamer, and what was worse was that the lion seemed to notice us and stared at us like a predator and prey, suddenly the system started a countdown "All players please reach the dining room within the 10 minutes". I grabbed Nuo Yao's hand and quickly started to run. It was the only way to live even though there was a huge chance we could die on our way to the dining room. It would take more than 10 minutes but, if it was running, we might have a chance.

The lion chased right behind us, and I found an open room. I quickly ran and rocked the room, then heard a BANG! The lion probably hit the room. I looked around, and it seemed like a medical room. There were needles and blood, and when I turned back to Nuo Yao, she just sat there in the corner, shivering. I'm guessing that the lion had scared her. I walked close to her comforting. "It's okay, it's alright now, you're safe." Then I started to look for a way to reach the dining room. I opened the drawers and found a knife. It was not sharp but enough to cut through a person. I looked at Nuo Yao. "Yao Yao? Could you come here?" I said to her and handed her the knife."If you get bullied or in any danger, it would come in handy." Other than the knife, I also found medicine.

System:"Congratulations, player Juan Lan, obtain 2 star healing items." I put it in my pocket. "This could come in handy," I thought to myself and looked at the door. There aren't any sounds outside anymore. Maybe the tamer took the lion. I opened the door carefully and peeked out. "Outside is clear," then I looked at the countdown. "5 minutes left." I took Nuo Yao's and ran quickly to the dining room. There are 15 people left. "3 aren't here yet?" I thought to myself. As the timer hits, it's finally System: "Player Amy, Player Alex, and Player Derek are eliminated." "Eliminated?" I had a bit of fear at this point. If we were even one minute late, we could have been dead. System notice: "Foods are provided for the workers. Please take a seat." I sat down with Nuo Yao and started to observe the expression on the others. My gaze met with another girl wearing white she just smiled, then turned her head to another person.

The food appears on the table. Some of them vomit in disgust on the plate, which wasn't food but a puddle of unknown substances. It even had an eyeball in it, and the other had hair and bugs. I turned to Nuo Yao to tell her not to eat what was on the plate, but I saw the girl wearing white eating. It was like she didn't know what it was. I finally vomited in disgust, Nuo Yao, who seemed to notice pat my back gently, I turned back to look at her. She seemed to have eaten half of the things on that plate. I remember the hint on that paper, “beware of what you see some creature can disguise themselves" Could this mean that she wasn't human?!
