Chapter 16 Ryder The crescent moon was bright over the water. And the gentle waves under my yacht normally lulled me to sleep when I was upset, or angry, or drank too much and needed to crash. Tonight, though, the gentle rocking did nothing for me. I’d spent hours on my workout, and then tried to rest. But every time I closed my eyes, I saw Nicole’s face staring at me. It was like she haunted me. I kept the lights off, but staring at the stars tonight wasn’t making me peaceful. Nicole had never cared about me. I should have realized that from the start.
