“I’m so glad this is finally getting used,” my mom said as we helped her make the bed. “You are the first guest to use it, so you’ll have to let us know how you sleep, okay, dear?” my mom said. She patted Ben on the back.
Ben nodded. “Thank you, Mrs. Thompson, for letting me stay here for the night. I know my mom was anxious about me driving home tonight.”
“Anytime, dear. Well, Alex, let’s leave Ben alone so he can get some sleep. It’s getting late, and I doubt Deerfield will have school tomorrow, but just in case, everyone should get to bed.” My mom put one arm around my back and led me to the stairs.
“Let us know if you need anything, okay?” I called out to Ben as we walked up the stairs. If my mother thought anything was going on between us, she certainly didn’t act like it
