We did the ritual and the barrier was up. Mama stayed back to talk to elder Cytrona while I went to our cave. I lay down on the fur but I couldn't find rest.
Mama came into the cave and joined me on the fur.
"What is wrong?" She stayed silent.
"Mama?"
"Cytrona suspects something went wrong while you were outside our territory"
"Like what?"my heart skipped.
"You're sure those leeches didn't see you?"
"No mama. They didn't. Elder Cytrona is just being paranoid"
She hummed and settled on her back.
"Mama. Do you know who started the rebellion?"
"Nobody does?"
"Ever wondered if it was Cytrona"
"Aine. Never speak of that again" she scolded me.
"I'm just wondering. She should try and make peace with the vampires. We'll be free then. We can't keep hiding forever"
"You don't make peace with those that don't want it"
"Noe said....."
"Noe? Second in line to the vampire throne? You met him?"
"I.....I did"
"How could you lie to me? Lie to your coven? That's totally unacceptable"
"I didn't want you to panic"
"Panic? You put yourself in danger. You put the coven in danger. You're supposed to be an elder one day for crying out loud"
"That's why I want what's best. They want peace. He told me himself. Aadavan is not the monster you all claim him to be. He's normal like you and I. They just want the person who started the rebellion and we'll be free"
"Don't be stupid. How could you believe the words of a bloodsucker. Bloody vermin. They killed your father"
"Father was part of the rebellion and it cost them their brother"
"You've been brainwashed. I can't stand to hear this rubbish. I'm going to let Cytrona know what you've done"
"It's too late mama. They'll be here already talking to Elder Cytrona" she slapped me hard I fell on the ground.
I held my cheeks tightly as I tried to stop the tears from falling from my eyes.
"Mama"
"Don't f*****g call me" her face held immense rage. She moved out of the cave and cast a spell at the entrance.
"You'll stay here until I come get you. You've had enough free rein"
"Mama. Mama let me out. I can help. Please" I sobbed as I sat at the entrance.
I needed to find a way out of the cave. I began to chant to reverse the spell mama put on the entrance. But I was to weak and inexperienced.
Mama was an older witch with more power and experience. I needed the help of another witch. But nobody would go against mama for me. Except Isolde.
I sat cross legged on the floor and focused on reaching Isolde. It was a witch thing that needed total focus. We could reach out to the witch of our choice and asked for help.
I tried to settle my mind and summon Isolde but my thoughts were at different places. What if the meeting went wrong? What was I going to do.
I heard loud screams and I became more determined to summon Isolde.
I felt the energy flow through me. The cracking of electricity as my magic sought out Isolde.
"Come to me" I whispered to her soul. She tried to fight the command but she was a lesser witch. I came from the purest and strongest bloodline.
She had no choice but to answer. Her body moving towards the magic calling her. Mindlessly and wordlessly until she was at my cave then I released her.
Her hands flew to her head as she groaned. "Where am I?"
"Isolde. Isolde"
"Aine? You're back? You promised to never summon me like this. My head hurts"
"I'm sorry. It was urgent. My mum cast a spell over the entrance. I need help to break the spell"
"No. No. There's no way I'm doing that. Your mum will have me whipped"
"We wouldn't be alive to watch that happen if I don't get out of this cave"
"What are you talking about Aine? Have I ever told you that you talk crazy?" Isolde chuckled.
"There is no time for that"
"No Aine. You'll tell me what I'm risking my neck for or I'm leaving and I'm taking a potion that will repel you from summoning me"
Isolde is pig headed.
"Okay" I proceeded to explain everything from when I left the coven till now.
"Oh my goodness Aine. That was stupid of you"
"I realize I might have made a mistake. That's why I have to be there. For some reason they didn't harm me while I was there"
"Yeah. Because they wanted information. I can't believe we thought I was the stupid one all this while"
"Not funny" I scowled.
"Yeah. Not funny. After all this ends you'll be whipped and you'll scrub for the rest of your life"
"That's the least of my worries. Now help me so I can get out of here and fix my mess"
"I don't know. Your mum is stronger than us. You think we could pull this off?"
"We can try. I have my father's blood in me. That counts as something"
"Ugh.... I have to deal with your proud ass too" she snorted.
"Can we not do this now?"
"Yeah... Whatever"
"Now I need you to empty your mind".
"That's kinda impossible. Food is always on my mind"
"Focus Isolde"
"I'm sorry"
"Empty your mind. Let the energy flow through you. I just need you to connect your spirit with mine. I'll take care of the rest"
"Yes ma'am"
I focused on connecting to Isolde's spirit. I had done this with another witch but under and elders supervision and guidance. I have never tried this on my own.
I let myself go. Focusing on connecting with her spirit. It wasn't long until I felt her energy flowing through me. I felt empowered and more powerful.
The reversal spell began to flow through my mouth. Chanting and chanting until there was cackling and a loud bang that threw me back wards against the cave wall.
"Aine. Aine are you okay?" Her voice sounded closer. It meant she was inside the cave. The spell had worked.
