As we walked toward the beach, we could see the small town was in shambles. Some of the buildings were still burning, and we could hear the sirens of a firetruck. A few of the other buildings were billowing smoke from the recent fire that was put out. There were bodies of the dead piled in the street and the wounded helped the others that were wounded. I looked at the small town sadly and then looked at Corey. He looked at me and creased his brow.
"We weren't able to stop this,” he said sadly.
I looked at him for a moment and my face hardened.
"We should have been here!" I growled angrily.
Sam looked at me with a softness in his eyes.
"Sammy, there is nothing we could have done. Our path was to go to the other realms,” said Sam.
