"Lylia!" A loud voice echoed, and the omega clenched her eyes still not turning around.
"Lylia you better hurry up, or I'm leaving!" The omega heard the impatient voice of her friend and almost wanted to roll her eyes at that but tried not to.
She hurriedly rushed towards her desk and grabbed her wristwatch and then stumbled out of their shared room.
"I'm ready!" She exclaimed feeling out of breath all of a sudden and noticed that her friend was glaring at her. The omega sheepishly smiled then her eyes fell on the massive clock in their living area, and she let out a sigh.
"We are going to be so late today. I am blaming it all on you" Amira mumbled, a frown on her which. Lylia's mouth slacked a bit as if that wasn't the truth. The omega rolled her eyes but then nodded her head.
"Let's go then," The omega dragged her friend, and together they walked towards the door.
While walking, from the corner of her eyes, Lylia spotted Brenda, another omega residing in the house.
"Bye guys," Brenda waved excitedly. What was this? Happy Death Day. Lylia waved back.
The omega loved the house so much; it wasn't the typical omega dormitory house; they didn't hate each other for a change. When Lylia got the news that she got accepted to stay in the house, she was excited.
Usually, omegas are frowned upon if they pursue higher education, but she was never the one to accept those rules. That's the reason she wanted to stay in the omega house so she could meet like-minded people.
In Placid City, omegas from nearby packs moved to complete their higher education. It was the centre of the state and state capital as well.
"Are y'all leavin'?" A thick Irish accent interrupted her thoughts, and she raised her head to look at the intruder. A smile graced her lips, noticing that it was her friend, Eilis.
"Yeah. But don't worry Eli we'll be back soon and then we can decide on the party" Amira assured her and Lylia wanted to turn around and glare at her friend because it was almost impossible to predict when they'll be back.
ODC (outdoor catering) was the most natural form of income around, and it was so much better than working in the same restaurant and seeing the same old annoying faces. But before omegas were not allowed to work late. It was because some Alphas may go into a rut or do something dangerous at night, but recently that ban was lifted off, and omegas were given the freedom to work late nights.
Anyways, at first, when she had found out about ODC through the college website, it was stated clearly that omegas were expected to stay only till ten. And then they had to go back, but now those conditions were lifted, and for that, she was glad because extra time meant extra money.
"Amira!" She gritted her teeth, looking at her friend who just shrugged, playing her innocent looks and then waved back at Eilis.
"What?" Her friend blinked her eyes innocently.
"You know I hate parties, and this one happens to be the rich guy's party which is double no for me" Lylia sighed looking at her friend because she was sure that her mother would never allow it. Not like she has to tell, but she never lies to her mother because she is sort of her best friend.
And for some reason, her mother hated rich people, and that somehow was inherited by her. She didn't want to be a part of that vibrant circle or in a way, go near it.
"But Lylia you know Eilin and how much she's looking forward for it. He may be her mate" Amira argued, turning towards her and halting in the middle. Lylia pulled her along because she was responsible for once, and they had to catch their train on time.
"She's not sure Am. And besides, he's such a snob" She snorted while walking forward and passing other omegas sitting near the edge of the door, picking at their nails because apparently, they don't have rooms to sit in.
"That is not true at all. You've just met him once" Amira laughed, throwing her head back and looking at her with narrowed eyes. She stopped at the gate again, and the omega rolled her eyes a bit flustered at being too judgmental, but she didn't want to give a chance to anyone. It just wasn't her fault, okay.
"Yeah but it's like I can read them..." Lylia said in her deep voice, trying to resemble some sort of psychic. A squeak left her lips as she felt a harsh slap on her arm.
"Quit with your drama. We are going, and that's final."
Lylia groaned. Why does Amira have to be this generous with everyone? Emilia wanted to go that rich snob's party in uptown. Since there were no omegas who readily were going along with Emilia, Amira decided to be a Alpha and step forward.
Not only that but Amira decided it would be fun to include Lylia along even though she knew how much Lylia hated these sort of parties and wealthy people.
"You're a bully" Lylia childishly muttered as she had nothing to come up with to which Amira tsked and playfully patted her cheek.
"Stop being a baby, baby."
"You're a meanie."
"Okay we have already concluded that you can't retort so don't make it worst" Amira snickered, and Lylia huffed. She hated Amira at times.
"Ugh fine I'll think about it," She said with a huff, and that was the end of their conversation.

"Okay, gather around!" Someone clapped their hands loudly to get their attention. Lylia immediately turned towards the source of the voice.
"We just got the news that Prince of Placid City is here so please, I repeat please be precise and quick with your service. If you make any mistake, it will be immediately noted, and as your punishment, I'll cut it off from your income." The manager gritted while glaring at everyone.
Was Prince here? Ugh, she hates Royalty with a passion. They were the world's biggest knotheads. For moon's sake, they had banned suppressants last year under the law that it was expensive. She had to suffer the entire year because it was illegal even to get them from other places not only that they made a rule about omegas sports involvement that all kind of hard sports should be banned from the Federation for omegas. Absolute rubbish.
"Ms Lylia!" She jerked at the loud sound and noticed that the manager was frowning at her. She raised her head and immediately cringed when she heard him snarl at her.
"Pay attention! This is not some stupid salon party where you can break a glass, and we'll ignore it. Prince is here. Do you know what that means?" He barked, looking at her to which she flinched but nodded her head.
Break one glass accidentally, and you never hear the end of it. And it was at an omega gathering and not entirely her fault. It was that clumsy omega who was drunk dancing and accidentally collapsed tripped on Lylia causing her to drop the glass. So not exactly her fault but still, she had to pay for that.
"Yes sir" She meekly replied as she felt a nudge from beside and she was sure it was Amira.
"Good." He sighed and then the footsteps retracted away.
She relieved a sigh at that and then looked around to see everyone was whispering amongst each other. Some of them were excited judging by the way she saw one omega push her breast up and pat her cheeks to her a glow. Embarrassing. The things omegas do to get that Prince attention.
"Now just pick the appetisers, only those who were assigned for it come forward and pick..." The manager instructed, pointing at some omegas, and Lylia smiled when she heard them grumble under their breath.
The omega was relieved that she was assigned with the dessert duty. As it's the last meal she doesn't have to put that much effort but also she has to handle that with care.
She heard Amira mumble something under her breath about how unfair it was.
"Others please spread out and see if the guests need something. You know the rules, don't stand in one place..." The manager started with the rules to which she turned a deaf ear to.
She peeked her head inside the massive kitchen. It was loud inside, and she knew it just because they had to step up their game for Prince. It was ridiculous how they all were working hard for this one guy who would not even know who made the dish.
"Spread out!" A loud yell followed to which she winced but then adjusted her shirt and walked outside the room.
Lylia almost stifled a gasp looking at the place. It was so elegant and elite that she wanted to keep on staring, but she had work to do so she immediately walked towards the seating section.
It was an outdoor party, a huge one at that meaning she had to walk through the sticky grass and she hated every bit of it.
The omega noticed the small table of a family and her eyes fell immediately towards the baby. The baby was fussing around in what she assumed was mother's arms. Before she could go over, they signalled her for help.
"Hi. How may I help you, madam?" She politely asked.
"Yes, can you please show me the way to the washroom?" The omega asked while balancing the baby.
"Sure madam. If you can, please follow me."
The lady got up and excused herself from the table, and Lylia walked her towards the washroom. She smiled one last time and turned around and started walking back to the party when it hit her.
The scent of something so exotic and heavenly and musky that she felt her abdomen tug at that. Her throat felt dry, so she tried to swallow her saliva. She licked at her lips, furiously. Her hands began to sweat as she inhaled more of the scent, and she noticed that her essential omega was jumping around trying to break free, but she controlled. She cannot transform in the middle of the party.
The omega followed the scent, and as she was about to turn around, she collided into a hard rock or wall that caused her to stumble back and tilt her head to look at the offending wall but instead she stared into the most beautiful grass-green eyes she had ever seen.
'Alpha' A voice echoed inside her.
