CHAPTER 24 Two days later. Samira asked for three days leave of absence while she took care of her grandfather. She checked on him, almost every hour, even while he sleeps. She spent time with him —-they ate together, played chess, walked in the garden, and reminisced about her funny antics when she was younger. As she listened to him, Samira was amazed at how her grandpa stored those memories so vividly in his mind. He was relaying those incidents to her, as if, it just happened yesterday. She felt so treasured and so loved —which spiked up her guilt even more. “Grandpa—!” Her voice trailed off, seemingly choked on her throat by an emotion so deep. Taking a few deep breaths, she finally let out, “I love you, I love you so much—and, — I am so sorry for disappointing you—“ “Oh—Mi uni
