"I'm back," Maria called out as she opened the door and walked into the house.
"Welcome home, honey," a tall and handsome man in black slacks and a blue T-shirt greeted from his seat on the sofa opposite the television.
"Where are the kids?" Maria asked as she approached her husband, giving him a kiss while his arms encircled her neck and he held her waist tightly.
"Hmm... playing with their uncle," the man replied through the kiss.
"Wow, my brother is here," Maria said, pleasantly surprised.
Her husband's eyes then drifted to the doorway. "Honey, you've brought someone home with you," he observed.
"H-hi," Greg stuttered awkwardly, feeling the man's scrutinizing gaze.
"Hello," the man returned, looking back at Maria questioningly.
"Oh dear, this is Greg. Just a lost boy. Greg, meet my husband, Tony," Maria introduced before explaining Greg's predicament to her husband.
"Greg, come on in," Tony called out, his tone welcoming.
"Thank you," Greg replied as he stepped further into the living room.
"I need to prepare dinner," Maria said. "Darling, please take him to the guest room so he can freshen up. Looks like he'll be spending the night in the same room as that brother of mine."
As Maria made her way towards the kitchen with her grocery bag, she called out, "And honey, please get those two down here. I miss them so much!"
"Yes, ma'am," Tony replied playfully as he gestured for Greg to follow him upstairs.
Tony stopped at a door which Greg assumed was the guest room and knocked.
"Daddy!!!" Two little identical kids shouted as they opened the door. It was obvious they were twins. They rushed into their father's arms, and he scooped them up without hesitation.
"Meet Daniel and Danielle, Greg," Tony introduced. Greg nodded, watching the two kids in admiration. They looked adorable.
"Hi," Greg waved at the twins, who smiled at him before focusing back on their father.
"You two should let your uncle rest now, okay? Your mom is back, and she misses you," Tony said, patting the twins' heads lovingly.
"Wow... Mom is back!!!" The twins squealed excitedly as they rushed down the stairs.
Just then, a tall and handsome man in a black shirt and black trousers stepped out of the room with lazy steps. The all-black ensemble accentuated his well-defined features, making him look even more attractive. His face was stern, and his mesmerizing gray eyes were narrowed.
Greg's eyes widened as he stared at the man in disbelief. What kind of joke is this? How is he here too? he wondered with a silent grimace.
"You," John murmured, pointing his index finger at Greg. He'd left work early today because he couldn't think straight and had come here to relieve his stressed mind. Now, the very person he'd been trying to get out of his head was standing right in front of him.
"Huh? You two know each other?" Tony asked, observing their reactions.
"No," they chorused as John slowly lowered his finger.
"Well then, sorry to bother you, John, but he'll be spending the night with you. Your sister found him on the street," Tony explained. "His name is Greg."
"It's okay," John said, his gaze fixed on Greg. He looked anything but bothered.
"Great. I'm going down to help my wife in the kitchen. Dinner will be ready soon," Tony said as he walked down the stairs, leaving the two to sort themselves out.
John stared at Greg for a moment before turning back into the room. Greg followed, his steps shaky and unsure, as he closed the door behind him.
As they walked further into the room, John suddenly stopped, causing Greg, who wasn't paying attention, to bump into him.
"Oh... sorry," Greg apologized awkwardly, rubbing his forehead.
"Greg, huh?" John's deep voice resonated as he turned to face Greg. "What are you doing here? And how did you get to know my sister?"
Greg opened and closed his mouth, taking in John's stern expression. He felt like he was being interrogated for having ulterior motives.
"I... actually don't know her. We met on the street, and she took me in because of the rain," Greg explained, sneaking another glance at John's impassive face.
"Thanks for not arresting me today," Greg added sincerely. After a moment of silence, he ventured to ask, "Why did you let me go?"
"That was probably your last chance," John smirked coldly as he walked to a couch and sat down. He removed a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, lit one, and started smoking.
"You can go wash up. The bathroom is over there," John directed, taking a drag on his cigarette and blowing out the smoke.
"Oh..." Greg replied, his head down as he made his way to the bathroom. He couldn't help but notice how his heart raced at the sight of John sitting on the couch, long legs crossed, smoking casually.
In the bathroom, Greg savored the warm water pouring over his body, leaving him refreshed and satisfied. After drying off, he realized he didn't have a change of clothes and didn't want to put on his old ones.
When Greg emerged from the bathroom some minutes later, he had a towel tied around his slender waist, his upper body bare. His skin glittered like a bright star, his stomach flat, and his golden layered hair still dripping water. His appearance was unintentionally seductive, his features alluring.
John swallowed hard as he looked at Greg, lust and want evident in his eyes. He could feel his body responding, his mind racing with thoughts he'd never had before. John sighed, closing and opening his eyes in an effort to control his pounding heart. He had to admit Greg was an attractive young man, but what was he thinking, feeling this way about another man?
Something must be definitely wrong with me, John thought, feeling conflicted. Why was it that the first time his heart truly moved, it was because of a man? It was shocking and confusing.
Nevertheless, the pull of desire was overwhelming, and he couldn't resist Greg's charm. There was a feeling inside him, like his heart was about to explode, similar to what he'd felt earlier that day. It was all new to him, and he couldn't define it.
Perhaps the only way to find out was to give in to these feelings?
John suddenly extinguished his cigarette in the ashtray as he stood up and strode towards Greg.
Greg, on the other hand, just blinked confusedly, not knowing what to do. His heart thudded as he wondered what John was going to do.
"John, Greg, come down here. Dinner is ready!" Maria shouted from downstairs, causing John to change direction and walk towards the door instead.
"There's a pair of pajamas on the bed. Put them on and come down when you're ready," John informed Greg nonchalantly as he closed the door behind him without looking back.
With the door closed, John finally heaved a sigh of relief, his eyes closed and mouth open as his body rested against the door. He composed himself before taking a step towards the stairs.
Meanwhile, Greg also released the breath he'd been holding. He couldn't really understand what was going on with John and why he seemed to enjoy scaring people that way.
He shook his head as he put on the oversized pajamas and left the room, his mind swirling with confusion and a mix of emotions he couldn't quite name.
