Arianna’s POV
We were dancing under the dark sky. Today the climate had been gloomy the whole day. I should have known that somethings were not going to be my way.
I hugged Gio. It was time to put my plan into action. We turned into slow circles. His hands tightening on my waist as we danced to the slow music. The staff had left us alone. This was the time I had been waiting for.
“Having second thoughts, are we?” I heard his dark yet sinister voice, making me tense. A cold shiver ran down my spine as my heartbeat increased. I tried to move away but he held me tighter.
“What are you saying?” I tried to act as if I don’t know what he is saying.
“Don’t be coy now” he murmured darkly. I struggled to get out of his arms. I am an underground fighter. I cannot lose to him. With that thought in my mind, I used all my strength and pushed him hard. Not giving him much time, I pulled the knife out which I had tied to my thigh.
I stared at him. He stared right back. He did not look shocked at all. My mind was turning gears as I realized that he knew about this. As I watched him, my breathing increased. Even after knowing, he still came.
“Why do you look so shocked?” he raised his eyebrows at me.
I concealed my expression.
“Come on, do it” he says, his voice changed to dark tone.
I blinked my eyes repeatedly. My eyes hard. My hands were trembling.
‘No, I cannot show weakness’ I thought as I stared at him. I have to do this for my family.
He moved closer to me. “Don’t, don’t come closer. I will kill you” I threatened him as raised the knife towards him, ready to attack him. My hands were shaking.
“Do it” he growled. I gasped when I did not even realize how he got so close to me.
“Strike” he shouted as he clutched my hand which held the knife. I jumped in fright. The sudden turn of events shocked me.
Not even a second later, he groaned in agony, clutching on to his stomach where I had struck him with a knife. He fell down on his knees, gasping with betrayal reflecting on his face.
I stood there frozen. My brain was refusing to accept the fact that I really did betray him.
“Why?” he wheezed out.
I had to change my demeanor. Leaning down to his level, I whispered “This is what assassins do”
“It was all a game” I murmured as I stared him straight in the eyes. He stared right back at me.
“A ga… game you played rea… really well” he was breathing hard. He tried to get up but I pushed him back with all my strength.
“It is not… over yet. I will get my… revenge” he growled darkly.
I moved back as it was time to leave before his people showed up.
“That is if you will stay alive” I passed him a last smirk before I turned around and escaped from there through the dark corridor. At the exact moment the lights switched off. It was my cue to escape.
