Chapter Two: The Change

I felt fires lick and taste my skin. It truly scorched my skin to the point that sweat dripped off my body. When I tried to swallow my mouth was as dry as the deserts that I read about at the temple.

“Alpha,” I could hear one of that elders in my ears. I had forgotten that I had an audience. After the Alpha grabbed me I only saw the darkness in his eyes.

“I know,” said the voice I believed to be the Alpha’s. What did they know that I did not. What was going on with my body.

“She’s going through the CHANGE,” I knew that was the beta by the name of Lex. I had recognized his voice because he was one of the few weres that came to the temple to offer blessings.

He had been my friend since I was six, that is, until I was titled the w***e of the Pact and he was promoted to the BETA of the tribe. The moon has her ways of separating and bring the pact together.

“Alpha, we have to do something,” Dire, the omega said. He generally sounded concerned for my wellbeing.

But it was puzzling. My mother never mentioned that my lineage was separated between wolf and witch. It made no sense to hid that because many of the priestess and witches in training were half wolf.

“How cold that be? How can she be changing? No witch, wiccan, or priest of this tribe has ever been anointed to the CHANGE.” The female elder Grace tried to make sense of the matter, not that I could blame her.

She was right for some reason witches were not able to transform into werewolves. Consider it a punishment from the Moon Goddess herself for generations of trying to destroy her favorite guardian.

I could see the fear in Grace’s eyes. She had grew up with my mother and been through so much. They were like family despite the different paths that they had taken. Hell, she was my godmother.

All of a sudden I heard growling around me. The other wolves were reacting to my presence. This did not look like it would turn out well.

Rumbling caught my attention once more; the elders were all muttering and talking around us. The sound was almost dealing I covered my ears and shut my eyes.

Alpha Nikoli gained control of the room. “Everyone get out, NOW!” He bellowed.

His wolf was at the edge for some reason, but I could not contemplate why. Hell, at this moment I could not even begin to think any thoughts with the pain I felt coursing through my body.

No matter how much I tried to breath it felt like something was constricting around my throat. I let out gasps of air and I could feel my vision become cloudy because of my tears.

The sound of shuffling and whispering lead me to believe that all the elders had listened to ALpha Nikoli and vacated the room.

“Nik, we have to help her,” Lex whined. The power between my CHANGE and the rage of Nikoli was getting to everyone still present.

“I know,” he grumbled. “What’s her name?”

“Zoe or she goes by Vi sometimes,” Dire stated.

“Vi, as in the secondary name to the moon.” The alpha chuckled. “Of course. Makes sense”

There was a power that pushed against me. Forcing my eyes open, staring at the man, the beast that was trying to save my life. The chill of the air had hit my naked flesh. I was shocked that Nik had started to strip me down.

I tried to move him out of the way but his large hands pushed me out of the way. He let out a deep groan and grabbed my wrist and lifted them above my head.

His one hand was holding both of my wrist. He took the hook that kept my dress in place and let it drop to the floor. He left me naked and bare for all the other wolves to see.

I was not wearing a bra and in one brief moment Nikoli took with talon and slashed my underwear to shreds. I began to shout and scream at him. I went to kick the monster when he pushed the weight of his body against mine.

I let out a whine as his heat radiate against me. What I would not give to wrap my legs around this man. He took charge and demanded my attention.

“Vi, listen to me. The CHANGE will hurt and you will feel pain, but when it is over, we will be right here. I will be right here with you, love.” The Alpha’s voice sounded so caring that I could not help but give into his words.

For a moment, I felt pain just as he stated. It burns from my throat to the tip of my toes. I had always seen the CHANGE happen, but I never felt it. Just as my body began to cool down, I could see the look in the eyes of the Alpha and the weres around me. I had always looked up to everyone around me, but this was different. I was on all four of my legs and I could not raise myself to look anyone in the eyes, let alone their face.

”Well, that is unexpected,” Lex stated.

“I would have never thought.” Dire could not even finish his statement.

What’s the matter. I thought as I looked around the room.

I could see the Alpha squat down in his human form in front of me.

“Well, this is a surprise. Vi, given the second name of the moon. Wiccan of the Tribe.” Nikoli chuckled as he looked at his companions and brothers-in-arm.

Lex looked down at me, “Vi, you are also a SHIFTER.” SHIFTER, I am not a were nor am I a wolf. I transformed into a SHIFTER. I could hear myself bark and cry.

With all of my animal cries and barking it did not take me long to figure out what I had transformed into. I had transformed into a fox.

But for some reason that felt like… like that least of my problems. I could feel myself quickly force the change to human form. Looking at my human form, I could see a mark that was not on my body when I left the temple.

The mark of the Alpha, a small mark that looked close to a moon shaped scar. This was a symbol that let females of the tribe and the Alpha know that there was a potential soulmate in the mist.

There was a burning sensation on my right shoulder. There was a chilling burn on my ankle. Two marks…. please let there only be two. Without hesitation, the Alpha placed his hand on my hip; he looked square into my eyes.

His eyes were completely black. His wolf had taken over at the result of my marks.

Three moon scars were on my body.

Without saying a word, everyone knew what the Alpha was thinking. I wore all three markings. I was a candidate for the Alpha’s mate… his luna.

In one night I trying to lose one title that I did not want and in result I gained two more. f*****g perfect.

That was the last thought that passed through my mind before I fainted. Atleast someone caught me……
