Chapter 5

Adrian's POV

We are finally back home. I parked my red Ferrari F8, yeah you heard right, I have a thing for sports cars and this here is my baby. This is the first car that I had bought with my own money.

What is so special about today man, I think everyone is here, Chase asked looking at all the cars that have been parked in front of my house. Chase is right, I can see Kevin's car, Kayden's car, Dave's car and a few others too. What is my dear mother planning!!!!

"Hey...I guess everyone's here. So what's the special occasion???" I asked walking inside our mansion.

Oh my God Ad don't tell me you forgot!!!!!! (That's my annoying little sister Avery (Aves) just screaming out to everyone about my mishap. Way to go little sis!!!!)

"Thank you so much for announcing it to everyone" I said glaring at her.

What, don't give me that look. Its your fault Ad. You should've remembered it, she said shrugging.

"So will you please tell me what's the occasion???" I asked getting impatient. Before she could say anything someone smacked me on the head. I turned around, rubbing my head, only to be met with my furious Mom

"Ouch...what the h**l mom, did you just smack me on the head!!!!" I asked shocked (What is she even thinking!!! I'm not some ten year old kid......)

Yeah, any issues, son??? she asked giving me her signature, don't-mess-with-me look. (I guess I'll have to back down. Yeah you win mom..)

"Nothing mom. But why did you...." I started to ask her about the occasion but she didn't even let me finish.

Look here Adrian, I can't believe you just forgot about your sister's baby shower. I had informed you about it a month before and I even messaged you yesterday. But no, you were busy getting wasted and hooking up with some s**t. A smack is nothing, in fact, you deserve to be beaten up for it. You are already 27 and now you are the CEO of our company. Stop fooling around and learn to become a little responsible. Its for you too Chase, you are not any better. So, from now on both me and your dad will be here with you both, and if we are not convinced of your behavior, then prepare to live on the streets all by yourself, both of you. This is your final warning, she said glaring at us (What's with mom and her new obsession for threats!!!!!)

"But mom..." I was starting to defend myself but Mom didn't even care to listen to what I wanted to say. She just ignored me and walked past us (You are so cruel mom!!!!!)

Suck it up young man, you know your mom very well. She does what she says. So, you both better change for your own good, adviced my dad (He is a ruthless businessman but an obedient husband in front of my mom. Wait till I get married dad, I'll show you how to control your wife. But I am not planning to settle down at least for the next 10 years)

"But dad..." I started to say. No buts. Go and help your mom and sister in the arrangement (There goes my dad. What's with everyone not letting me speak today. I can't believe that my own mother just threatened me and my dad supported her)

Whoa, dude aunt is really in "killing mode" today, exclaimed Chase.

"Oh so you can talk now. Traitor, where was your voice when mom was threatening us???" I asked getting annoyed.

Ad, I really wish to live for a few more years and hook up with at least 50 more chicks. I am not planning to get killed today. So....." he said shrugging (I can't believe this guy, always thinking about women!!!!)

"You are a lost cause Chase" I said giving up.

What are you two bickering about. Don't just stand there. Do something useful, mom shouted at us.

"Yes mom, we are coming" I said going inside. Also get rid of your plastic barbie by tomorrow or else I'll burn down all of your cars including your favorite red ferrari, mom said on her way to the kitchen (No!!!!! Not my baby mom. I really don't know what is wrong with her today and who the hell is she talking about!!!!!)

What's up Ad.... asked Kevin putting his hands around my shoulder. This is my favorite and only brother-in-law Kevin (Kevin is Anastasia's husband and we are childhood buddies. His parents, Mr.Albert Williams & Mrs.Joanna Williams are our business partners. He is 3 years older to me and his only brother Kayden is my age. Kevin is nothing like us. He is the typical good boy, perfect son and now a perfect husband to our Ana)

Haha, you still can't figure it out, can you??? Mom's talking about your fake girlfriend 'Plastic Stacey' said Kevin laughing at my dumbfounded expression (Is my mom literally planning on making me a saint!!!! )

I looked at Chase and he is trying hard to control his laughter. He must have thought something dirty. He usually makes these lame dirty jokes whenever he hears Stacey's name. I guess Chase is really trying to put up his obedient kid act today for my mom that he is keeping his jokes to himself. Who is he trying to fool. I***t....

I can't believe it Kevin, you still remember the name that we used to call her in high-school, Chase said chuckling (He is right. We used to call her that back then and believe me it perfectly suits her)

Of course, Chase who can forget that. I still remember the day when Ana broke her nose for flirting with me and how she screamed out crying that her nose job was so costly and Ana ruined it, said Kevin laughing to himself. Kevin is right, it was really hilarious. Ana got so furious that day and since then Stacey is scared of Ana. Remembering that incident we broke into laughter.

What are you three joking about without me??? asked Kayden walking towards us wriggling his brows (Kayden is Kevin's only brother who likes to annoy everyone)

"Hey whats up, Kay. Its been more than a month since I last saw you" I asked fist bumping him (Kayden or Kay, as we call him is a playboy. He is the "King of Flirting". Both Chase and Kay are currently betting on the number of girls they have slept with, and believe me I can never keep up with them) What to say man, dad has forced me to take up the CFO post as my dear brother here is the 'oh-so-perfect CEO' (he said glaring at Kevin) and so I am now being seen as a spoiled brat. I'm struggling to manage my new gaming company and my flings, at the same time.....he said looking helpless (Poor Kay, he hates being tied down to a place. He likes to travel around and enjoy his life) Don't worry we are dealing with the same situation here dude. Aunt Mila has threatened to throw us out from the company and even our house if we do something reckless, said a devastated Chase.

Whoa, then I'm in heaven Chase. Hallelujah!!!!! (This guy and his drama, unbelievable) Suck it up guys, its high time that you all change your ways. Kevin being the perfect guy adviced us (But, believe us Kevin we are not even the least bit interested in becoming a perfect guy like you. We are happy being our spoilt selves) Oh shut up bro, we just want to enjoy our bachelor life. No one can understand the pain of us poor single lads, said Kay trying to wipe his imaginary tears (I can't stand this guy's drama!!!)

"Stop being so dramatic Kay. Lets help the ladies to set up the things or else you know the consequences" I said trying to get their help. Yeah, you are right. Lets go guys, said the oh-so-obedient Chase (This guy really deserves the Oscar) Laughing, all of us moved to our backyard where everything is being setup for Ana's baby shower.

As soon as we got there, I saw Aves running towards us like she's on fire."Where are you running off to Aves???" I asked confused. Oh, Ad did you see Dave??? she asked panicking (Dave is my mom's only brother Chris Miller's son and Aves' best friend.They were classmates. He is the typical athletic, charming, good boy and my mom's favorite. He also has a sister Diane who is now married. She is currently living in London with her husband and kids. Dave is our company's CFO)

"No, why???" I asked a frantic Aves.

I told that i***t to get the gender reveal cake from the bakery and Its been more than 30 minutes since then. He's not even picking up his phone, she said seething (Great, Dave is going to get killed today. A furious Aves is a force not to be reckoned with!!!!)

"Calm down Aves and what's with that attitude???" I asked getting irritated.

Oh Ad, you are talking about my attitude!!!! Wait till Ana gets here. She'll burn you alive as mom told her all about today's morning and I suggest you to better prepare a convincing excuse or else you know how its gonna be, he said smirking (Remind me to thank you later mom)

"Oh s**t, now I'll have to deal with a furious pregnant woman" I said sighing. Don't worry Aves I'll try calling Dave said Chase unlocking his phone. Thanks Chase, saying this Aves turned to go back when Kayden said smirking, Hello beautiful lady, care to greet this handsome guy here.

Kay is really trying hard to annoy everyone today. Aves is so far the only girl prone to Kayden's charm and him being his dramatic self always try to provoke Aves with his flirty comments.

Get lost you j**k, yelled Aves (Haha....that's my sister) You wound me Aves, Kay said clutching onto his chest.

"Be careful Kay or else she's gonna break your bones. She got a black belt in karate last week" I said laughing at his antics.

God, when did this happen. Thanks for the heads up dude. I'll make sure not to be in a 2 mile radius of Aves, he said looking scared.

"Yeah, that'll be the best thing to do if you don't want to damage your assets. Well, lets go and make sure that everything is the best so that we can save ourselves from the wrath of a pregnant woman" I said moving on to help Aves.

Finally Dave brought the cake, and we successfully managed to set everything up on time. Mom had sent an eight months pregnant Ana to the spa in the pretense of pampering her and Kevin brought her back to our house when everything was ready. Ana was really surprised and her reaction was priceless. Kevin and Ana got to know that they are expecting a baby girl. I can't wait to meet my niece. She is going to be so pampered by everyone as she's the first grandchild in both of our families. Ana got a lot of gifts, mostly for the baby and I managed to escape her wrath by showing her a beautiful rosewood crib as my gift which I managed to order online a few minutes ago (Thanks to the guy who invented online shopping) Also I got an earful from Ana for this morning.

My dear future niece, remember not to get on your mother's badside. She is much worse than your grandmother.

Its almost 10 at night and everyone has started to leave. Can you believe that all this time our parents were doing nothing but talking... All of our parents can sit around and talk for an entire day without even having food. How do they never run out of topics!!!!

"Hey Dave, how are you man??? I didn't even get a chance to talk to you today. I think Aves was behind you the whole day" I said chuckling.

Please don't remind me that Ad. Aves was literally chewing my ears off for getting late in bringing the cake. I'm sure, if I had taken even 5 minutes longer, you would've been able to plan my funeral now!!!! he said looking exhausted.

"Yeah, I know how she can be. Well, how is work???" I asked Dave.

I initially had a hard time adjusting with everything. But now, I have learnt better. Sometimes it gets a bit difficult, but its nothing unmanageable. And you really surprise me Ad. All my life I've thought of you as a fun-loving and carefree guy, but when you get into the CEO mode, you literally became someone else. A typical cold, strict, boss. And for your dedication....hats off Ad. I really look up to you, he said patting my back (Believe me Dave I also love my carefree self. But I can't help but become responsible or my Iron lady will murder me)

"Thanks, man. Well, see you tomorrow in the office. I am really in need of a good rest so as to get into my CEO mode tomorrow" I said chuckling.

Yeah goodnight Ad, I need to get going too, saying this he went to get his mom and dad. "So everyone I'm going to get a good sleep now. Thank you all for coming to our Ana's baby shower. Have a safe journey" I wished everyone and they wished me back good night.

I walked to where Ana was sitting, going through the gifts she had received. Finally I got an opportunity to talk to the mom-to-be alone.

Thank you so much for the crib Ad. I really loved it, she said smiling. "Anything for you Ana" I said hugging her.

Be a good boy and don't fool around with girls anymore. Also get rid of that fake girlfriend of yours and find a good girl for yourself. You have to be serious, okay!!!! she said scolding me (I guess its time to get rid of Stacey Adams)

"Yes Mother" I said chuckling. Get lost Ad, she said smacking me on my arms (Ouch, this lady is so strong) I caressed her bump and said "See you soon princess. Your uncle is going to spoil you rotten"

Yeah, yeah. Like I will ever allow that.

Good night Ad, she said kissing me on my cheeks. "Good night Ana. Take care" I said kissing her forehead.

I really love my sister. She is the one whom I go to whenever I'm in trouble. She corrects me when I'm wrong and cheers me up when I am sad. I'm happy that she got a guy like Kevin who worships the ground she walks on. She deserves all the happiness in the world.

I got back to my room, changed into my sweats and laid down on my bed. As soon as I closed my eyes, I saw my kitten's face and I can't help but smile. Kitten, you have managed to get my attention and I feel like we'll meet again, soon. Thinking about her, I fell into a deep sleep.
