Chapter 13

Adrian's POV

Today is the day we are going to bring Iva to our home, for the first time. I am feeling so ecstatic because we'll be bringing home two special people, my little niece and my kitten.

Its not just me, everyone in the house is so happy about it and its the first time since Ana's death that I saw my mom and dad smile like they used to before. Also in these few days mom, Aves and Joanna have gotten so close to my kitten. Elena is Aves' new best friend and she is so over the moon as Elena is going to live with us from now on. Nowadays, Aves is always in Elena's apartment as Elena's friends were her classmates. I'm happy for her as being the rich kid she never had any true friends and now, I think she got some.

Two days back was Ana's and Kevin's funeral and the media celebrated it. Its ironic, isn't it??? Someone's loss is someone else's gain.

It was on that day that I took an extremely important decision in my life. I've decided to adopt Iva. Mom and dad have already retired and this is the time they are supposed to take rest. Aves will get married sooner or later and will have her own family to take care of. Albert and Joanna are in grief and Kayden hates children. So, I am the only one left, who is capable of taking care of Iva and so I want to be her guardian. I don't want her to feel the absence of a dad. I haven't even held a baby before, but of course I am not alone, I will have my kitten to help me. I'll try my best to take care of Iva, the way Kevin and Ana would have wanted.

Now I am getting ready to go to the hospital. After ensuring that I look my best, I went down. As I walked down the stairs, I saw my mom and dad engaged in a heated discussion about the investigation. Its almost one week and the police were not able to find the car yet. I think its time to take the matter into my own hands. I will have to give a call to Jake, my friend in the mafia. His dad is now their leader and he is going to take over soon. I was thinking about calling Jake when mom said, Ad come on, lets go. Its already late. I have to meet the Director too (Aves has been missing since the morning. I have no idea where that girl has ran off to. Dad is going to the Williams house, as Albert had wanted to talk something about Kevin's shares. So its just mom and me)

"I'm ready. Lets go mom" I said and walked to our car.

As soon as we reached the hospital I heard my mom say to Elena on the phone that she will be sending me for the signatures and that she has to meet the Director. I guess its my lucky day.

Like an obedient kid, I agreed and moved towards the nursery. When I got there, the scene infront of me was really breathtaking. My kitten was sitting in front of a window so focused on some papers, writing something and occasionally biting her lips. The sunlight was shining on her face making her look like an angel (You are going to be the death of me, my kitten)

I stood there for a few minutes admiring her beauty and then I decided to tease her. But as I got near, her scent hit me hard. I couldn't control myself and I sniffed her shoulder. (God...That's heaven)

I think my kitten is scared of me as she outrightly denied ever seeing me. No worries kitten, I'll help you remember everything and believe me, we have all the time in the world. I was trying to tease her when my mom trod in like she owns the place (That's my mom. She acts like a queen. Well, she is one in the business world and people fear her)

Then the most embarrassing thing happened. My mom smacked me on the head, in front of my kitten, for not introducing myself (For gods sake, I am 27 mom. Not some 10 year old)

Well after all the introductions Elena gave me the documents to sign. That's when I heard my kitten call me by my name for the first time. It sounded so damn sexy. As soon as she said my name, my blood rushed to all parts of my body, especially down there. What the hell are you doing to me kitten??? I've never been so affected by a woman before!!!! I couldn't breathe and I started sweating. F**k, how can I be so affected by a girl!!!! I can hear Elena and my mom asking me if I'm okay. I'm not at all okay....Damn it, I need fresh air....ASAP. So I immediately signed the papers and rushed out of there. I don't know how I'm gonna survive if she keeps calling my name like that. I got inside the car, adjusted the temperature to the lowest and sat back closing my eyes. I could see our driver Joe staring at my flushed face. But knowing my temper, he didn't dare to ask anything and that's what I like about him. Finally a few minutes later, mom and Elena came with Iva and we started off to our home.

After about 30 minutes, we reached our house. I got out of the car and opened the door for my kitten. Yep, you guessed right, I am trying my best to impress her. She got out of the car with Iva in her arms. Then, when she saw our house, the expression she had was really beautiful. She looked like a little kid who saw the carnival for the first time (Believe me, everyone has that impression of our house. Its a modern Victorian style mansion and is really beautiful. Its my uncle Chris Miller's design and I would proudly say that he is the best architect in the entire US)

My mom led Elena inside. Everyone was there to welcome them. Dad, Aves, Albert, Joanna, Uncle Chris, his wife Melissa (Aunt Mel), Dave, Diane and her children

(Diane is Dave's sister. She is Kevin's and Ana's best friend. She and Ana were best friend goals and she was the one who played cupid in Kevin and Ana's love story. She got married two years back and is now living in London with her husband Liam Wilson. They have two kids Mia (1.5 years) and Max (6 months). Dave and Diane are my mom's favourites. When we were small, the three of us used to be jealous of them)

My mom introduced Elena to everyone and after some time Iva started crying. So mom took them to Iva's nursery and they are in there right now trying to calm her down.

Talking about rooms, that is the best part of this whole arrangement. I tricked my mom into giving Elena the room opposite to mine. It was actually Aves' room. I convinced my mom to transform Ana's room into Iva's nursery instead of using a guestroom. (Which of course was something genuine as I am sure it would've made Ana happy) Ana's room is next to mine. Aves has this habit of playing loud music in her room whenever she is home. So, I reasoned to my mom that it will disturb the baby and if Elena is given Aves' room it will be easy for her to get to Iva even at night. So mom asked Aves to shift into one of the guestrooms and prepared hers for Elena....Ain't I a genius??? Well, I am really good at convincing people. Perks of being a cunning businessman.

I was mentally praising myself when someone punched me on the stomach. "Ouch....What the..." I turned to see a grinning Chase. "What the h**l are you doing here??? I had clearly told you to stay in the office today" I seethed. (B*****d, I'm sure that he is here as he couldn't control his curiosity. Aves and mom had been talking a lot about Elena for the last few days and so he had been impatient to see Iva's "nanny". Also he doesn't know about Elena being 'my kitten'. That's why I specifically told him not to come here today. But no he had to, manw***e)

Chill dude. I've completed all the work. Also Sam is there to handle any emergencies. So why not??? Also I can't wait to see Elena. By the way where is she??? he asked searching for her. (What did I say!!!! He'll probably make me kill him today) I was going to shout at him when mom came towards us with Elena (Just what I wanted!!!)

Oh sweetie, meet Chase Knight. He is my nephew. He lives here with us, mom said to Elena.

You must be the famous Elena my aunt and Aves had been talking about. Well I must say, their words didn't do you justice.You are more beautiful than they had told, Chase said smirking (B*****d. Flirting with my kitten!!!!! You really do have a death wish my dear cousin. I promise you, your death will be by my own hands)

'Thank you, Chase. I'm really flattered. Its a pleasure to meet you', Elena said blushing. (What the freaking hell!!!! I couldn't make her blush even once. But you j**k.....I'll make sure that today is your last day on earth) The pleasure's all mine beautiful, he said bowing down.

'You know what??? You are just like Ryan. I'll introduce him to you one day' Elena said smiling (Now, who is this Ryan ??? Does he flirt with her too??? )

Stop with your flirting Chase. She is like my daughter. Try anything funny and I'll kill you, mom said warning him (Have I ever said that she is the best mother in the world ??? No!!!! Then I am saying it right now.....)

Chase was trying to defend himself when Dave came shouting Elena's name......'Hey Dave, how are you???' Elena asked smiling. El, I never expected it to be you when Aves mentioned about an Elena. How come you are here??? Dave said holding her hands. (Wait...Why the hell is he holding my kitten's hands??? You know what, I declare you my enemy from this moment, Dave Miller) 'Actually, I had expected to see you. Becca told me about your relation with Mila. I'm so happy that I've got another friend here, she said smiling.

How do you know each other??? mom asked confused. El is my girlfriend Rebecca's friend and roommate. So, we've met before, Dave said to mom.

Oh, I see. That's a good thing. Well, where is Diane??? mom asked looking around. She's with my mom in there, Dave said pointing towards the kitchen. I'll be back, saying this mom went to the kitchen.

Suddenly Elena teased Dave, 'So Becca is now your girlfriend. I didn't know that!!!! '. Ummm...you know, I haven't asked her to be my girlfriend yet but I'm planning to....soon, he said rubbing his neck (That's a very good decision Dave. Congratulations, you just saved your life)

Whoa, why is this i***t blushing??? Aves asked coming towards us sipping a juice.

'I was just teasing him about his girlfriend', Elena said chuckling.

Wait, when did you get a girlfriend??? she asked looking shocked.

Oh, someone had just said that I'm not her best friend anymore. So why should I tell her anything, Dave said ignoring Aves.

Guys, tell me this. You have a Samsung S20 and then someone offered you an IPhone 12 Pro, which one will you choose??? Aves asked looking at us.

Duh, the IPhone, replied Chase.

That's what I did too. Its that simple, she said smirking.

Did you hear it El, she just ditched me for you, complained Dave.

'Aves, how about this, I'll be your girl-bestfriend and Dave your guy-bestfriend' Elena said trying to convince her. El, I'm agreeing to this only because you've said it, Aves said glaring at Dave.

That's a first. The mighty Avery Knight agreeing to something, Chase said mocking. You jerk, Aves screamed hitting him and Elena started laughing at their antics.

Her laugh is so beautiful. It feels like music to my ears......Damn it, when did I become so cheesy!!!!! But seeing her so happy and laughing like this, is making me feel so content. Is this love??? No, I don't do 'love'!!!! I guess its just my mind playing tricks with me. Maybe I'm just intrigued with her as she is the first girl who didn't fall for my charms. Yeah, that's it..... She is just a challenge for you Adrian, nothing more...

After meeting Iva and Elena everyone left. Diane and her children have decided to stay with us for a few days to help Elena in taking care of Iva. Both Diane and her kids are in love with my kitten and the kids refused to leave her when it was time for them to leave. So Diane decided to stay back for a few days.

I have to admit that my kitten is really good with kids. She loves them. She will make a perfect wife. Argh!!!! What the hell is wrong with me??? I don't want to get married. Period. I've never had these thoughts before and should never have them again. Whenever I see her its like something is pulling me towards her. I can't think straight or act normal around her. She's making me feel all these weird things that I've never felt before. I am really frustrated right now that I can't figure out what is happening with me and its making me go insane. I think I should stay away from her for the sake of my sanity.
