Chapter 11

Elena's POV

After my talk with Camilla, I decided that for the time being, I'll stay with them in their house as Iva's nanny (I think they have got good connections as they were able to get me a one year leave. Believe me its really hard to get even a week leave sanctioned in our hospital) I don't know for how long I'll be staying with them. I will have to figure things out soon. I also don't know how my family and friends are going to react to this. I'm sure they are going to call me crazy. I myself think that I'm crazy as I know that no person in their right mind will do what I've just done. But my heart is telling me that its the right thing to do, after all our heart wants what it wants.............The biggest shock that I got today was that Mr.Grey eyes is related to Ana. We didn't have any direct interaction till now. But seeing him alone makes me irritated and I can't help it. I hope we won't meet often.

My shift had ended a few hours ago, but I couldn't bring myself to leave Iva. So I decided to stay here till Emma and Becca completes their shifts and I haven't got out of the nursery since then. She isn't lucky to be fed by her mother so we have to give her formula feeds. Also she has a little difficulty in breathing, so we are providing her oxygen through prongs for now. I hope that her breathing will get normal by tomorrow. But I would say she's a really strong girl. She has survived all of this. Also she has got a pretty strong grip for she has been holding my finger for hours now and is not letting me go (Ana I think we shouldn't worry about her. She will surely grow up to be a strong girl)

I was brought out of my reverie by Emma tapping me on my shoulder. Both Em and Becca are here. Looks like their shifts just ended. In what dream world are you in El, we have been calling you for more than a minute now, Em asked looking annoyed (She has been angry with me since the moment she got to know about all of this. Becca was angry at first but as soon as she saw Iva, she said that I took the right decision. Lisa and Josh also supported my decision. But Ryan scolded me asking me if I was out of my mind)

'I'm sorry Em, I was just thinking about everything. Lets go, you guys must be tired', I said trying to calm her down. I have already arranged everything for Iva and my colleague Laura agreed to take care of her for the night. I gave one last kiss on her small hand and went out with them. After about 20 minutes, we reached our apartment. Emma said that she was going to spend the night in our apartment and she even asked Sam to come here straight from his office. I think she wants to discuss about today's events and my plans. She is not talking to me much like she usually does. I guess she's still angry with me. On the other hand Becca has been asking me non-stop about the morning events especially about Iva. Looks like she is already in love with my baby.

We are now sitting in the living room waiting for Sam. We also had our dinner and Emma said that Sam had already eaten. Emma is furiously typing something on her phone and Becca is lazily changing the channels on the TV. I am sitting on the sofa, thinking about how to tell them about my plan to stay with the Knights when suddenly Becca called my name.

El, I forgot to tell you something important. Today I met Dave in the hospital. I was really surprised as he didn't mention anything about coming there. He too was surprised as he didn't know that I worked there. He said that his cousin had an accident and he came to see her. Guess who his cousin is, its Anastasia Williams!!!! Dave's father is Camilla Knight's only brother. I can't believe that he is related to the Knight's. You know what, the Knights are crazy rich and powerful. The Knight siblings went to the same school as ours. Anastasia's husband Kevin was Sam's classmate and her younger sister Avery went to the same class as ours. The company that Sam is now working in is theirs and the CEO is Adrian Knight, Anastasia's younger brother. Did you meet him???' she asked me.

'I don't know their names Becca, I might have seen him' I said as I only had interacted with Camilla and Ana's sister Avery till now. There were many others like Mr.Grey eyes, Williams family and I don't know a whole bunch of other people. Of course you have seen him El. He is really tall and handsome and believe me he is pretty much hard to be ignored and you know what.....she started to say something when suddenly she stopped talking and sat there frozen, with her mouth wide open (Oh dear Lord, what has happened to this girl)

'What is it Becca, what happened??? Just say something, will you.....' I said getting worried. She suddenly yelled out fast, heistheguywhowefoughtwithinthemall. What the hell Becca!!!!! What tribal language are you speaking in, asked Emma getting irritated.

Guys do you both remember the guy whom we fought with in the mall??? Becca asked. I looked at Em and we both nodded yes. Yeah, what about him??? Emma asked frowning. He is Adrian Knight. What!!!!!! both Emma and I screamed at the same time. No freaking way, he was not Adrian yelled Emma.

It really was him. Today Dave showed me a guy and said that, it was his cousin and boss Adrian Knight. It was that guy from the mall and guess what he was wearing the exact same suit, said Becca.'No, Becca just listen to me, are you saying that the guy with Grey eyes whom we met in the mall and had a fight with is Adrian Knight and that he is the CEO of Sam's company and Ana's brother???' I asked dumbfounded.

Yep, that's exactly what I am trying to say you dumbos, Becca said acting all mighty. 'Oh good gracious' I said feeling defeated.(How am I gonna deal with that j**k!!!! He is Iva's uncle and I will have to interact with him at some point or the other. Oh no, does he live with Camilla and her husband??? No way, he is an adult and moreover a CEO. So he for sure, will be having his own house. Calm down, Elena, you are getting scared for no reason, I tried to console myself)

I hope he doesn't remember me or else he'll fire Sam if he gets to know that I'm his girlfriend, Emma said looking worried. Don't worry Em, Sam said that Adrian is really satisfied with his work and he even gave him a raise, Becca said focusing back on TV. But then she jerked her head towards me and narrowed her eyes.

'What ?' I asked confused. Wait a minute El, how did you know that he has "grey eyes". I had met him more than you have, and I haven't noticed till now that his eye colour is grey, she asked raising her brow (Oh God, I'm busted)

'I don't know??? When did I say anything about grey eyes', I denied and tried to act innocent (Keyword tried, as I'm not the least bit good at lying)

Seriously woman, I do have a good memory, alright. I agree that he is attractive and even I had a small crush on him in highschool, of course before Dave....(she said giggling) but that guy is a manw***e. He is a well known playboy and a spoilt brat. Considering your situation with his niece, I will suggest you to better stay away from him, she said warning me (So he's not only a j**k but a p*****t too. Just what I wanted, note the sarcasm. I still remember his last words in the mall. God, save me!!!!)

'Don't worry Becca, I accept that I noticed his eyes that day, but only because its unique. But I hate him to the core. You know how much I hate those rich people who flaunt their money and have no regard for others', I said assuring Becca when suddenly the doorbell rang. Looks like Sam is here.

Becca opened the door and a furious Sam strode into the living room followed by a worried Josh (Wait, where did these two meet!!!!! ) Sam kept his phone and keys on the table and sat beside me and Josh took a chair and sat opposite to me. Sam turned me towards him and asked, Just tell me Lena, what the h**l were you thinking when you agreed to look after that baby of the Knights!!!!! Do you know who those people are )??? Have you ever met Anastasia Williams before??? Did you even care to ask any of us??? Why did you do such an absurd thing Lena???

'I'm really sorry Sam, I didn't mean to offend any of you. Ana was the woman whom I had saved from an accident a few months back. I just couldn't stand Ana's pain and when she said that, even from the beginning I had been her baby's saviour, I couldn't deny her. That's why I agreed to it without thinking about any consequences. I really felt like she was my big sister and that its my responsibility to take care of her baby.....' I said with tears in my eyes.

Sam immediately hugged me and said, I didn't mean to make you cry Lena. You are like my little sister and I don't want you to get hurt. Those people are filthy rich and their life is really messed up. I know it well, because I work for them. I know that you are so naive and kindhearted and the people like them will take advantage of you. I agree that Anastasia and Kevin were good people, but their families are not like them. They only value money and power. It was just a few days back that, Adrian Knight asked me to prepare a non-disclosure agreement to end his fake relationship with the model Stacey Adams. They only had s****l relations and he even gave her one million as a compensation. Think how sick that is!!!! I am not supposed to reveal it to anyone but I just want you to realize the kind of people we are dealing with here. Also now its been doubted that today's accident was planned. Which means that someone had wanted to kill them and they succeeded in it. Now the next target will be their baby, which means from now on your life will be in danger too. You shouldn't have agreed to live with them for a year (I think Josh got to know about it and he must have informed Sam)

Becca looked at me dumbfounded and cursed under her breath. What the hell El, why did you agree to such a.....damn it, are you in your right mind Elena Rose Jacob!!!! screamed Emma.

'I'm so sorry Em, when Camilla requested me to stay with Iva, I couldn't say no.....' by now I was sobbing hard.

You are really dumb El. That woman is using that baby to manipulate you. They just need a naive girl like you to look after their baby, considering the threat over her so that if something happens then it'll be you who will be losing your life, not someone of their own. I have heard that she is a really cunning business woman. Guess what she is in real life too. And you are really really stupid to fall into her trap, saying this Emma stormed out of the apartment. I couldn't control myself, I started crying holding my knees to my chest and hiding my face in between my legs.

Lena, look at me (Sam coaxed me) She said all of that because she is angry. She will be okay after she calms down. Just don't feel bad, saying this Sam went after Emma to talk to her.

Its the first time Emma is being this angry with me. I am so sorry Em.....I started crying hard when someone hugged me and pulled me onto their lap. I was so hurt that I didn't think about anything else. I hugged that person and cried my eyes out. That person kept on rubbing my back and patting my head. It helped me to calm down a bit and I stopped crying after a few minutes. Then I heard someone clearing their throat and when I opened my eyes I saw Becca sitting on a chair opposite to me and grinning like a Cheshire cat. I didn't understand at first. Then it dawned upon me. If Becca is sitting there then who am I hugging??? I looked up to that person's face and to my horror, it was Josh. This situation is not at all good!!!! We are in a really compromising position. I am sitting on his lap, hugging him while he is rubbing my back. I wish if the ground would open up and swallow me right now........ I tried to take my hands back not daring to look at his face. Suddenly Josh lifted up my face by my chin and asked me if I'm okay. I nodded yes and a blush crept onto my face. I have never been so close to any man except Sam and Ryan. Here I am sitting on Josh's lap (Why did you leave out Mr.Grey eyes, you were literally hugging him that day, in the mall, reminded my inner self.....Oh really!!!! I just missed that, thanks for the reminder. My thoughts are getting really bad these days. Oh lord forgive me for I've sinned.....)

Pfft...Believe me Josh, she is more than okay now, said Becca with a smug smile.(Remind me to thank you later Becca)

I glared at her and sat back on the sofa. I said a thank you to Josh for which Josh gave me a boyish grin. If you need any help of this sorts in the future, I'm more than happy to be there, he said smiling.

Oh don't worry Josh, I'll make sure to give you a call. Also I think my best friend here reallllly loved your help as she was looking so cozy in your lap, said Becca taunting me.

Thank you so much Becca, you just made me the happiest man alive, answered Josh smirking.

'Quit teasing me, you two....I was so sad that I really didn't notice anything', I said stuttering.

Yeah, yeah we got it. Whatever helps you to sleep at night El, Becca sang (Oh god, this girl is unbelievable)

Suddenly Emma stormed back into the room and hugged me, almost choking me. 'I'm so sorry El. I didn't really mean what I said earlier. You know how hotheaded I am. I am just angry over the Knights and their schemes, not over you. Please forgive me. I know that you are so soft hearted and that's why you decided to take care of that baby. I will support you in this. I don't ever want to hurt you again. Cause, you are my best friend and my little sis. Please don't cry, she said crying (This is my Emma. She is so good at heart and she loves me a lot)

I wiped off her tears and said smiling 'Its okay Em. I know that you said all of that because you didn't want me to get hurt. I want you to be with me in this and I promise to take care of myself '.

You girls and your drama, unbelievable......hissed Sam.

Says the man who was just looking like a lost puppy running behind his angry fiance, Becca clapped back.

What the heck Becs, can't you at least try not to humiliate me in front of Josh!!!!! Sam said pouting.

Thats my girl, Emma high fived Becca (Oh god, these babies....)

No hard feelings man, I know how it feels to be outnumbered by women. It happens to me all the time in my family, consoled Josh. Thanks man, at least we have each other, replied Sam.

Now look who's being dramatic, Becca said smirking and we girls broke into laughter seeing their antics.

Suddenly Josh came infront of me and got down on his knees. He then took both of my hands in his. Caressing my knuckles he said, Elena, I know that you did all of that out of your love for that baby and believe me you are the kindest and the sweetest soul I have ever met. I really wish I could make you mine. But no pressure Elena, I know how you feel. No matter what I will always be there for you and support your decisions. We will be there to protect you from all the evil. So please don't cry and give me that 'heart melting smile' of yours. I smiled at him blushing.

Awww....Josh, that's the most romantic thing I've ever heard a man say. I wish I had a boyfriend like you, Emma said swooning at him and Sam scoffed at her.

I'm really sorry Em, but this heart is already taken. He said looking at me (I think he was really serious about what he had said to Becca about making me fall in love with him. And believe me guys I'm not that heartless to just ignore all that he did for me right now. He is a really great guy and will surely be a good husband one day. I think I should give him a chance. Well let me settle the other things and then I'll think about it) He then said goodbye and left.

As soon as Josh left Sam asked us, What was that with Lena and Josh??? What am I missing here??? Emma sighed at him and said, You know what baby, you are really dumb sometimes. I wonder how did you become a legal advisor to a big firm like the Knights.

Damn it woman, stop insulting me and just spit it out, Sam yelled.

Okay bro, long story short, Josh is having a huge crush on our Elena since he had met her the first time. El is scared of dating a guy as she doesn't want to go against her family. Realizing this, Josh is hell bent on making our El fall in love with him, said Becca nonchalantly.

Traitor, he was just hitting on my little sis in front of me, yelled Sam.

Quit with your yelling Sam. I know its just your bruised ego. But, Josh is really caring and supportive unlike some people here (Em said glaring at Sam) and I'll give that to him, said Emma.

I'm the best you can ever get baby, Sam said smugly.

Do you remember Chase Knight, your CEO's cousin??? asked Emma smiling innocently (God I know that look. She is planning something evil, I know her very well)

Yeah he's our COO now. What about him??? asked a confused Sam.

Oh, that's even better. I had a huge crush on him in highschool, right Becca??? (Becca nodded like an innocent, obedient kid)

I saw him today in the hospital and guess what he still remembers me. Also he's single. So, I think I have got a chance, right Becca??? (Becca nodded again, these two are best at riling up Sam)

So newsflash baby I've got much better options than you, Emma said smirking. Sam stood there dumbfounded.

You've just got me speechless woman. But believe me I won't hesitate to kill him even if he is my COO, Sam said gritting his teeth and he whispered under his breath 'ungrateful woman'.

I heard you alright Sam. Lets get home and I'll show you the exact meaning of that word, seethed Emma.

'Whoa, guys cut it it out, okay. Its getting late and we all have jobs to get to tomorrow. So bye and goodnight' I said laughing. Emma and Sam went home continuing their bicker and Becca went on to call her "unofficial" boyfriend Dave.

I changed into my pyjamas and laid down on my bed thinking about how my life has changed in a day. Now I have a baby to take care of and a new family who accepted me as their daughter. I don't know whether to be scared of what Emma and Sam had said about them, but I can't get myself to doubt Camilla. Her words seemed really genuine. Maybe I'm just being naive like Emma said. I guess I'll see in time. Dear Lord, please guide me and protect me in this journey and please send your angels to protect my Iva. Thinking about my baby, I slept peacefully.
