Chapter 16

Camilla's POV

I am a ruthless businesswoman but my only weakness is my family. I thought that we had lost all our happiness the day I heard the news of my Ana's and Kevin's death. My only hope was my Ana's little girl. Then like an angel Elena came into our lives. I believe that she is a real angel sent to us by God. She brought back happiness into our lives. James and I now consider her as our Ana. I think I even love her more than Adrian, Chase and Aves. She takes care of our Iva like her own baby and she is the best mother my grandchild can ever get. She even takes care of mine and James' health. She agreed to stay with us for a year. But I want her to become our Iva's real mother. Because we are getting old and I'll only trust my grandbaby with Elena.

Since the last few days I have been thinking about a way to make Elena stay. The only solution I can find is to make Adrian marry her. I know that I'm not doing justice to Elena. Aves had told me that Elena is a virgin who believes in love after marriage. My son on the other hand is a playboy who doesn't believe in marriage and I'm sure that he will not agree to marry Elena. I will have to force him and I believe Elena and Iva can change him. I have a little hope because ever since Iva came home he has stopped fooling around. Also I could feel a bit of tension between Elena and Adrian. I think he likes her.

I was sitting in our office in our house, thinking about how to execute my plan when James came inside asking, What is it baby??? I can see that you are upset about something. If you are comfortable we can talk about it.

That's my sweet husband. James is a really caring husband and a loving father. His first priority has always been me and our children. Its been 30 years of our marriage and our bond is still strong. I love this man a lot and I'm lucky to have such a beautiful family

James, tell me what do you think about Elena??? I asked him to know about his opinion.

Mila, that girl is our saviour. She is taking care of all of us like her own family and our Iva loves her like a mother. I wish she was our real daughter. Her parents are really blessed to have a daughter like her, he said smiling.

Baby, I want to make Elena a 'Knight'. I am planning to ask Adrian to marry her. Adrian is Iva's guardian and after the marriage Elena can adopt her. Then she can become her real mother and I'm sure that she'll suggest this by herself, I said to James.

What!!!!!! Its not right Mila. I agree that Elena would be my first choice for our daughter-in-law and Iva's mother. But our son is not right for her. He is a playboy and a spoilt brat. You know how much he despises the idea of marriage. I don't think he will ever agree to it, he said frowning.

I know very well that he won't agree to a marriage now. But don't worry, I know how to convince him. Have you noticed our son lately??? He has stopped fooling around and has become more responsible. As per my sources, Adrian has been more focused on his work. I really got surprised when I heard that he didn't go to any clubs in the last two months. I believe that Elena can make him a better man. Consider it as me being a selfish mother, I said reasoning out.

But still Mila, I am worried about Elena. She is an innocent girl. I am scared if our son will hurt her. Also Elena knows about Adrian's playboy nature. I don't think a girl like her will agree to marry him, he said looking concerned.

My dear husband, you are not at all good in the matter of emotions. Have you seen the way Adrian looks at Elena??? I believe that Ad likes her. I have never seen him look at a girl like that. I think he is confused about his feelings. A few months back, Chase told me that Ad likes a girl whom he refers to as 'kitten'. It was because of her that Ad decided to break up with Stacey and quit his one-night-stands. Few weeks back, I heard Chase and Adrian arguing about something in the kitchen. Out of my curiosity I listened to their conversation and I got to know that Elena is Adrian's 'kitten'. I'm sure that Adrian is in love with Elena. But our poor boy is in denial, consider it a mother's intuition. So don't worry about Adrian breaking Elena's heart, I don't think he'll ever do that. But even if he tries something funny I will kill him myself. Now, about Elena I'll make her fall in love with our son. But, before all of that I want us to talk to our son about it, I said smiling.

If what you said is right, then I am more than happy to support their marriage. But since Ad is in denial I don't think he'll agree right away. We'll have to find something to convince him. Also, you are right, we should have a talk with him, James said agreeing to my plan.

You know it very well that if I plan something I'll make it happen at any cost. So, don't worry about anything else and lets start preparing for our son's marriage, I said smirking.

Since the last few days I have noticed that Adrian has been trying to avoid Elena at all costs. He goes to office so early and comes back late at night, even past dinner time. I know that he is trying to suppress his feelings for her. But don't you worry son, I'll make sure to bring out all your emotions.

Today is Sunday and as usual he tried to escape from our house, but I didn't let him. I even asked Chase to stay back to ensure that Adrian doesn't go out. I'll have to make the best use of this time. After breakfast James and I were in our office discussing about our new projects when Clara informed us that a Dr. Ryan has come to meet Elena

I had met him in the hospital before. He is a nice guy and is really protective of Elena. I even thought that he was her boyfriend at first. But Aves told me that Elena never had any boyfriends and that she will only marry the guy whom her family chooses. Talking about her family I have decided to talk to her parents as soon as Adrian agrees, for I know that she'll only agree if her parents approve of this marriage.

So we both moved towards the garden to meet them. When I got there I could sense the tension between Adrian and Ryan. I was able to understand the reason only when Elena told me about the prank that they had pulled. I have never seen my son so furious before. Looks like my boy is deeply in love with Elena. So, I decided to use it to my advantage. I convinced Ryan to stay for lunch even against his denial. And the weirdest thing was that Ryan was trying his best to provoke Adrian. Boys these days!!!!

Someone should tell my son that he is not at all good at hiding his emotions. I have always thought that James's jealousy was the most extreme. But, believe me, my son is even worst. The way my son was glaring at Ryan made me fear that Ad would kill him then and there. He even stormed out of the dining room when Ryan kissed her a goodbye that too just on her forehead. Hahaha......Poor boy, I don't know how he is going to control his jealousy after his marriage. But Elena was really clueless. That girl is too innocent for this world. My son better not mess this up or I'll throw him out of our house.

Since I had threatened Chase in the morning, he explained to me about everything that had happened between Adrian and Ryan after we had our dinner. Well, Adrian didn't even come for dinner. I don't know who he is being angry at!!!! But considering all these things James and I have decided to talk to Adrian today itself. So now we are waiting for him in our office. I have already devised a plan to convince him. I was discussing my plans with James when Adrian barged in (Oh dear lord, he is already 27. When will he learn some manners!!!!)

I was starting to scold him when James beat me to it. What kind of manners is this young man??? Be it your house or your office, you should learn to respect the privacy of others, he said scolding him. "Dad, its your office. So, why should I knock??? Also what else would you both be doing here other than to talk???" he asked frowning.

What if we were doing something inappropriate??? asked James smugly.

"Not bad old man, never took you for the adventurous type. But I doubt if mom would agree to something like that" Adrian said smirking at his father.

Don't doubt your mom, she is more daring than I can ever be, James said laughing. "Whoa mom, you really surprise me" said my son laughing. (What the!!!! Like father like son. James was a playboy before marriage. But he fell in love with me. No wonder Ad is like this. P*****ts)

Will you two just shut up or I'll throw you both out of this house this instant. I'm your mother for God's sake Adrian, I said glaring at the two laughing men.

Don't worry Mila. He has been living in this house for 27 years. He must have seen and heard things before, James said teasing me (Urgh, this is the problem with both the father and the son. Say anything serious and these two will find something funny in that. Also they are extremely fond of teasing me. I'm really tired of these two!!!!)

"Oh god, mom you are blushing" said Adrian laughing hard.

I'm out of here you p*****ts, saying this I stood up to go out when Adrian hugged me and said, "Sorry mom, we were just teasing you. Its really fun to rile you up".

Yeah honey. I'm really sorry. Well lets get to the topic. Adrian, we both have something important to tell you. We want you to think about it carefully and take a decision, James said being serious.

Adrian sat down opposite to us and asked "What is it??? You guys are kind of scaring me".

Adrian we want you to marry Elena, I said without any pretense. I shouldn't laugh right now, but my son is sitting there frozen with his mouth wide open and his eyes bulging out. I think he even forgot to breathe. James is trying his best to suppress his laughter and I glared at him (When will he learn to become serious. He is already a grandpa and is still acting like a teenager. How can I blame our son then!!!! Lord save me.....)

Ad, before you deny it, I want you to listen to me carefully. If you don't marry her within a year, you can say goodbye to your CEO post. We will give it to Chase and you can take up his COO post. Also, Chase and Elena are good friends and I've even seen him flirting with her. Also I know that Elena is a virgin and hence no wise man will deny a chance to get such a girl. So, with a little emotional blackmailing from our side I'm sure that Chase will agree to marry Elena and I will make him Iva's guardian. So you better take your decision wisely, I said smirking at my dumbfounded son.

"What the hell mom!!!!!! I've worked hard for that post and now you are going to give it to Chase, just like that!!!! That too for the sake of a marriage. Also he doesn't even want to become the CEO. How can you just threaten me over that??? Chase is a manw***e and you consider him eligible to become Elena's husband. I can't believe you!!!! he said scoffing.

Trust me son, I'm not bluffing. If you don't marry Elena, I'll do what I've just said. Now about Chase being a manw***e, you are not any better. If you are so concerned about Elena, then marry her and become the husband that she deserves. Its as simple as that, I said mocking him.

"Mom, even if I'm ready, do you think Elena will agree to this marriage. She doesn't like me. I think she even hates me. So, how can I marry her in a year???" he asked confused.

Don't worry about that son. Leave that to me. I'll convince her. Now about Elena hating you, I suggest you to better work on that if you wish to have a happy married life, I said laughing.

"But mom....." he started to complain.

No buts son, you will have to make her fall in love with you, propose to her and marry her in a year. I will only accept her as our Iva's mother. Also, don't think that we are dumb. We know that she is your kitten. So, you better work on making your kitten yours forever. Because who knows, she may fall in love with Chase or Ryan, I said taunting him. "What!!!!! I'm sure that b*****d is the one who snitched on me" Adrian said seething. Calm down son. If you are referring to Chase then leave that poor boy out of this. I tried my best to make him confess everything. But he didn't even utter a single word. But I have my sources. Also I must say you are much worse than your father when you are jealous. I can't help but worry, how Elena is going to handle you after the marriage, I said laughing.

"Oh God mom, stop embarrassing me already. But I do not remember saying a yes", he said smugly.

Oh my poor son, like you have any other choice. I know that you won't let anyone else marry your "kitten". But I'm telling you this. Elena is more important to me than you. So, if you dare to break her heart, you will see the real Camilla Knight. And believe me Ad, I won't even consider that you are my son. Just remember this before you try something funny, I said warning him.

"Mom, you are unbelievable. But don't worry. I will never hurt her. You can have my word on that", he said smiling (Finally....I'm so happy that my playboy son has decided to settle down with a sweet girl like Elena)

This is so far the best decision of your life Adrian, James said patting Adrian on his shoulder.

"Thanks Dad. And mom, thank you for allowing me to marry the girl that I like, eventhough it was more of a blackmail" Adrian said laughing.

Yeah, yeah......whatever. So I suggest you to start working on winning her heart. She is such a sweet and innocent girl. She will accept you if she realizes that your feelings for her are genuine. I know that you have never loved a girl. But believe me Ad, what you have for her is real love. A mother knows her son the best and I can see it in your eyes. So you better not mess this up, I said warning him.

"I was confused about my feelings before, but not anymore mom. And don't worry, I won't mess this up" he said with determination.

Everything is settled then. Good night Adrian, I said kissing him on his forehead. Yeah, goodnight boy. Hope you have nice dreams of your kitten, you know, the ones that doesn't allow you to sleep, James said teasing him.

"Don't mention that dad. I lost my sleep the night I saw her in her pyjamas and believe me it has been weeks since I slept well." Adrian said sighing.

In my case it was an image of your mom in her bikini that gave me sleepless nights for months, said James smiling.

"Thank God she doesn't wear something like that or else I would have died of blue balls, if that is ever possible" Adrian said groaning.

Don't worry son, if that was possible I would have been long dead by now. I have this weakness of getting turned on by your mother's anger and knowing this she throws me out of our room after every fight " James said and both the father and the son started laughing hard.

Argh, God what did I do wrong to get these two p*****ts as my husband and son!!!!! And James you are not going to sleep in our room today. Good night, saying this I went to our room.....

I'm really happy that Adrian has agreed to this marriage. I knew that he would've agreed even without me threatening him. But still I didn't want him to waste any more time or have second thoughts. Also I never would have made Chase the CEO. Its not because he's not my son. I love them both equally. Its just that Chase never wanted to become the CEO in the firstplace. He told us that as soon as he graduated. He said that being the CEO was too much for him as he wants to enjoy his life. After Adrian's marriage I must find a girl for Chase, that is if he doesn't find one by himself and then I have to devise a plan to convince him. Or else he will never get married in this lifetime.
