Rain was dozing off, when he heard steps around his bed. He opened his eyes and saw Milo standing at the window with a tense expression on his face. He quickly shut his eyes again, hoping Milo would think he was asleep and leave him the hell alone. “I know you’re awake, Rain,” Milo said in a tired voice. “I see your reflection in the window.” “But I’m trying to sleep,” Rain muttered, fiddling with the edge of his sheet. “You don’t need to be here.” Milo sighed. “I wanna be here.” He looked over at him. “The nurse told me that the paramedics checked your EpiPen and it was expired. It’s been expired for two years. I renewed it in May and put it in the usual place, so how come you had an expired EpiPen, Rain?” “I—I must have packed the wrong one or something.” “Or something.
