Opening my front door, I found my mother standing there. And even though I knew I needed to talk to her, I was slightly irritated now was when she decided to show up. "Sue, what can I do for you?" She took in what I was wearing, "oh dear. I can come back another time if you are headed to bed." I couldn't help but laughed. I know she thought I was ready to go to sleep, but I had been ready to go to bed for another reason. "It's ok. I won't be going to sleep for a while still." Relief filled her face but was quickly turned to nervousness as she extended her hand holding out a check. I didn't move to take it. She didn't owe me any money. "I want to return this.
