Chapter 10 Alex didn’t see Jamie when he pulled to a stop in front of the shelter the next morning. He glanced at the clock and thought about hitting the horn, but it was early and he didn’t want to wake the whole neighborhood. He debated on running up to the shelter and knocking—surely someone was up, some small kid watching TV who could let him in. But just as he cut off the engine, the front doors opened and Jamie stepped out into the bright morning light, grinning at him.
