“They’ve found us— he has found us!” A repressed scream dies in my throat as I jolt awake, hand to my pounding heart and breathing hard. My lungs gasped for air as I blinked away the nightmare of my past, the voice of my dead father echoing in my mind. I looked around, still panicked, but what surrounded me was the peaceful woods and the tall outpost not too far away. I was still in the hole where I had fallen asleep, curled up and cozy. A thick blanket was draped over me, probably from Caine, who knew where to find me. From the position of the setting sun, it was almost dinner. I slept through the entire day. My mind started to reboot, going through my duties, workload and schedules. I let out a sigh. I had missed a meeting but thankfully not a briefing for my men. Did no one think
