-Dom POV-
I open my locker door still feeling sleepy.
(I just have to get today over and tomorrow will be Friday finally. Maybe I’ll go for some drinks with the guys and unwind a little.)
“Good morning Alpha Dominic.” I hear two females say in unison.
I look behind my locker door and see Piper and Madison. Two she-wolf sisters from our pack with Madison being a year older than Piper.
“Good morning ladies.” I give them a charming smile and they giggle.
“Did you get a new tattoo?” Madison asks fluttering her eyelashes under her big hazel eyes. She touches my arm where an old tattoo is and I know she knows it’s old.
“No, I didn’t.” I say to her but I am distracted as I see Nova walk in through the front doors with Stella looking confident like she owns the place.
I avert my eyes back to Madison. “I might get a new one soon though.”
She smiles. “Can I come with you next time?”
“Ah... sure.” I say not paying attention.
I really try not to but I can’t help it, when Nova walks by me, I stare at her. I remember the day that I first saw her. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. The guys are right, she is beautiful. Even though I can’t stand her, I can still appreciate how good she looks. That edgy look she has with piercings and some tattoos kind of turns me on. And looking around, I can see I'm not the only one. Guys watch her as she sashays walking by them. But then I remember how she called me an ogre, like what the hell! Who does that and to their Alpha. This girl has a death wish.
She walks by us chewing gum and looking bored. She side glances me and gives me an irritated look, which I return and she walks past us talking to Stella.
“Uh! That girl is so disrespectful.” Piper says looking at Nova.
“Someone needs to put her in her place, who does she think she is?” Madison says.
I walk away leaving them to their talk which I don’t really care for. I see Gabriel at his locker and head over to him.
He sees me and gives me a nod. “Hey man.”
“Hey.” I nod back.
He gives me a smirk. “I saw you looking at the firecracker.”
I look at him confused.
He chuckles. “You like the girl and you don’t even know it.”
“He likes who?” Harvey asks coming from out of nowhere.
“I also would like to know who he’s talking about.” I say, squinting my eyes at Gabriel.
He looks at me. “Nova.”
“What?!” People around me look at me for shouting.
“Ha!” Harvey laughs.
“No, I don’t.” I look at him irritated.
(What the hell?)
“I think she’s pretty, yes, but I don’t like her.” I say.
“Ok ok. Whatever you say.” Gabriel says.
Harvey puts an arm around my shoulders. “Face it. You get bored easily of other girls but Nova keeps you on your toes. And as much as you say you dislike her, we all see you when you unknowingly stare at her.”
I am pissed. (What the hell are they talking about!)
“I don’t know what is wrong with you guys, but you’re wrong.” I say in an irritated tone. “I would never like that girl.” I walk away and head to class now feeling angry.
During my first classes, I can’t stop thinking about what they said.
(She is rude, irritating, and just too much!)
“No, never!” I punch the table. I hate the girl for making me look like an i***t in front of my pack.
I feel eyes on me. My anger subsides and I now notice that everyone in the class is staring at me.
“Something to share with the class Dominic?” The teacher asks.
“Uh...” I clear my throat. “No, sorry.”
The humans in the class laugh at me and I can see Gabriel and Harvey holding their laughs too.
I go through this class dreading the next one. Nova is in it and the girl spends the whole class trying to piss me off on purpose. And then these two seem to be acting stupid today too.
When we get to the other class, Nova is already there with Stella and Rose. Math is not one of my best subjects but what sucks, even more, is that she’s in this class. Nova sits in the back with Rose in front of her and Stella in front of Rose. I sit next to Stella like I always do.
“Morning.” Stella says to me with a smile.
“Hey, were you able to finish the assignment?” I ask her.
“Yea, Nova helped me... even though she didn’t do hers.” She mumbles the last part.
(Of course, she didn’t. It’s a miracle when she does. Yet she still gets good grades.)
“Why?” I ask.
“She was out partying.” She says.
(No surprise there.)
“Oh, do you have plans for tomorrow night? We are having a birthday party. Your dad already gave us the ok to use one of the vacant houses.” Stella says.
(I like her. She’s a sweet girl. I would like her as my mate, anyone in the pack would. She’s nice, follows the rules, and is not a menace to society... like someone else we know. She’s cute and small which instinctively makes you want to protect her and the best part is, she’s submissive. Everything a male wolf wants. However, as Luna, I’m not so sure.)
I give her a big smile. “I don’t have any plans. I’ll be there.”
(Hey... maybe she will be my mate.) The thought of that brings a big smile to my face. But my smile falls when I feel something hit the back of my head.
I look back and see a scrunched-up paper on the floor. I look at Rose who has a nervous look and is staring straight to the front. Purposely not looking at me. And then I look behind her at Nova who has her legs crossed and resting her head on her hand with the elbow on the desk, whistling and a nonchalant look staring to the side.
I narrow my eyes at her and she gives me a side look. She acts like she just notices me. She gives me a glare and then sticks her tongue out at me.
I’m about to get up and go over to her but the teacher arrives and then I hear her giggling.
I sigh. (She really gets on my nerves.)
She always does stuff like this. A few weeks ago, I thought she was crazy. The girl was walking in the halls and I was a few steps behind her trying to get to my class but then she turns around and starts shouting “Stop following me you creep. I already said no!!” I stopped and stared at her thinking “This girl’s a psycho.” Everyone in the hall stopped and looked at me like I was some kind of creepy stalker. Nova then turned back around and ran laughing and disappearing into the hall while I was left there trying to figure out what the hell had happened.
She’s always doing s**t like that and it pisses me off.
As I am deep in thought, another thing hits the back of my head but this one hurt a little.
“Mother-” I look at the ground and see a huge ass eraser half the size of my hand. I have never seen an eraser so f*****g big, like who the hell even gets that? I look back at Nova and she looks at me with an innocent expression. “Woops, my eraser fell.” She says.
(Bull s**t!) I give a growl.
“Mr. Dominic Hale!” I jump and turn back around when the teacher shouts my name and I hear Nova giggling. “Can you tell me the answer to the next question?”
(Aww shit.)
-Nova POV-
I sigh. “Look, you seem like a nice guy but, I am not dating right now.”
“Ah, it’s cool. See you around then.” The guy looks disappointed.
“Aww, he looked sad.” Stella says.
“I honestly am doing him a favor. He looks too nice and I’d just end up corrupting him. Also, he was human.” I say.
Stella and Rose nod agreeing.
We are at lunch and I am thinking that I might not make it through this boring day.
“Hey Rose, can you give Stella a ride home?” I ask.
“No can do. I have to run some errands for my parents today.” She says looking annoyed.
I sigh.
“You were going to ditch school again?” Stella asks.
I stretch not answering her. “Why does school have to be so boring.”
“Keep ditching and they are going to call mom and dad soon.” Stella says concerned.
“What makes you think they haven't?” I say smirking.
Both her and Rose gasp. “What did the teachers tell them?” Stella asks.
“What makes you thing they actually talked to mom and dad.” I smirk again.
“Oh my goddess Nova, you are too much.” Stella says.
“Ooh I’m telling.” Helix says sitting next to us.
“You tell them and I will tell them about you!” I say narrowing my eyes at him.
He stops eating. “What exactly do you know?” He looks at me suspiciously.
I smirk. “A lot Helix... I know a lot.”
He stares at me with a serious expression for a few seconds. “.... fine. You win this one.”
“You are going to flunk if you keep ditching.” Stella says.
I shrug not really caring. “There’s no point of school for me. I’m not going to some big fancy college. I already know what I want to do. I’m going to be the beta of the pack.”
Stella rolls her eyes. “And what if that doesn’t work out? What are you going to do or be then?” She gets up and gathers the wrappers of food and puts them in her tray.
“A bum.” Helix says and I swat him on the shoulder as Rose laughs.
“I’ll still be one of the warriors. No college needed for that.” I say sure of myself.
She sighs and walks to the trash can.
“You have your life all figured out, don’t you.” Rose says in a very sarcastic tone. “Just saying, the goddess likes to throw curve balls at us from time to time.”
“Yea I know, sitting next to me is proof of my parents curve ball.” I say smirking.
Helix glares at me.
He is about to answer with a snarky remark but we hear a loud clattering behind us. I turn around to see Stella's tray on the floor and two girls standing in front of her.
“Woops, I would apologize but it doesn’t matter, you can’t do anything about it... can you? ‘Beta’” The beta part is just a whisper that only we can hear.
“Oh! Hell no!” I shout.
I get up and stump my way over to them with Rose and Helix following me. The girls look at me with wide eyes when they see me.
“Nova! We didn’t know you where there-”
(Nope, no talking for you.)
I punch the girl on the face which sends her sliding trough the floor. The girl that was behind her steps back. “It was an accident.” She says.
“b***h! You really think I'm that dumb?” I take her by her collar of her shirt and push her down to kneel.
I hear Helix behind me chuckling and mumbling. “Sometimes.” I ignore him because I am just too pissed at this girl.
“Pick it up!” I shout at her.
The girl I punched sits up holding her bloody nose squinting and hissing in pain but doesn’t get up.
The girl kneeling, picks up the trey and the trash with shaky hands.
(I do not feel bad for her at all when just a minute ago she was acting all high and mighty and looking down at my sister. I don’t even know who the hell they are. They are from the pack, that much I know, but I don’t know them.)
Not one soul in the cafeteria speaks. Everyone just stares. Even that ogre Dom just sits watching.
Once she is done, I lower my face to her level.
“Trust me when I say, this is nothing compare to what I'm goanna do to you if I find out that you are bullying my sister.” My tone is dark and I know she can feel the menace behind it. “Now throw the trash out.” I stand with my arms crossed watching her.
She gets up and quickly throws the trash away then stands awkwardly not knowing what to do.
I take Stella by the hand and walk away but Helix and Rose stay behind shouting at both the girls. Rose probably knows them.
I walk out of the cafeteria and I am so angry.
I stop and look at Stella pissed. “Have they been doing this to you?!”
She looks at the ground. “It’s nothing-”
“It’s not nothing! You tell me! When this happens, you tell me!” I am livid.
She sighs. “Nova, you can’t protect me forever.”
I narrow my eyes at her. “Like hell I can’t! Until you find your mate, I’ll be there, and even after you find him, I’ll still be there.”
I am so agitated. I can’t be here.
“Go to class. I need fresh air before I wolf out.” I say and walk away.
