CHAPTER 4The stairs did not continue as expected but levelled out into another tunnel that, as far as Kendra could tell, ran back towards the outside. This proved correct for soon a c***k appeared on the right above them with daylight streaming in. Also the air became salt laden and the temperature dropped a fraction. "The storm's arrived," Jolene said as she used a handful of soil to snuff out the torch flame. Kendra glanced up and noticed that the base of the c***k was wet with droplets of water sliding off an edge and landing on the stone floor. The c***k above them increased in size until the side of the tunnel opened with a waist high wall. The rain blew in and sprayed them with drizzle. "I don't understand," Jolene said.
